Chapter One:

Rouge stretched like a cat that had just awoken from a nap as she climbed out of the container she had been hiding in. She was quite happy that they had finally landed, sitting huddled up in a container all day was not her idea of fun, and it was great to finally be able to stretch her legs. For the last three days she had been surviving on her small water replicator and protein bars and was jumping at the chance to explore a new planet.

That had been her whole reason for leaving her home planet, Venus, (the humans call them blue people) in the first place, she had a thirst for adventure that could not be satisfied on one planet. This she could not change even if she wanted to, for once someone had been filled with stardust they would never be satisfied with a normal life. This started when she was just a child, her father told her stories of adventures and pirates in the great sky above. Since then she had only wished to reach out and touch the stars.

After Rouge was done stretching she quickly crept out of the cargo bay in which she had been hiding. Scanning the area with a practiced eye she quickly asserted that there were no threats at present and crept along the corridor to the open doors in which the crew was leaving through to go onto the planet.

She hid inside a small cupboard and waited for everyone to exit before she took her chance to get off of this ship.

Most of the girls in her school had waited for their princes to come sweep them off of their feet for all of their lives. Rouge had waited for no man, while all the other girls dreamt of their princes she had dreamt of meeting pirates and having adventures that her father had told her about out in space. Of being able to touch the stars and make her own mark on history, never being happy with anything less than an adventure.

She snapped back into the present as two people walked up to the cupboard she was hiding in. "So, are you going out on the planet for break?" asked the first man, "Nah, I'm perfectly fine in here, and besides who names a planet Swanmingo! That is just a little too weird for me!" replied man two "Yeah, me too! Anyway, are you sure she's in here?" Asked man one "Yes I'm sure, get her." Rouge froze, oh good Goddess, were they talking about her? She thought she had covered her track well, she checked for security cameras before she went anywhere, how could they possibly have known?!?!

Man two reached forward and opened the cabinet and with a triumphant smile said "Ah ha! There you are!" and pulled out a small lemur. "We have been looking all over for you!!!" said man two. They walked away and Rouge let out a deep shuddering breath. Oh thank Goddess! She thought she had been discovered!!

She waited a few more seconds to catch her breath and slow her hearts to a regular beat before she climbed out of the cabinet careful not to make any sound so as to prevent drawing attention of any nearby officers.

She looked around and seeing no one there she took her chance and sprinted out of the doors to the outside and looked around for some cover. She saw trees and ran toward them and after she was about twenty yards in she plopped down behind a tree breathing hard her blue hands shaking from the stress of the exertion after being stuck in a crate for days.

After her hearts slowed to a more regular beat she stood up again and took in her surroundings, the trees were gorgeous and each one had thousands of pink and blue flowers on it complementing each other perfectly. She gazed at the trees in amazement, this had to be one of the most beautiful things she had ever seen on all of her adventures. The trees and the flowers seemed to go on forever and the fruit that hung for the tree was a beautiful deep red.

Rouge kept walking and breathed in deeply, oh goddess the smell!!! She had never smelled anything so wonderful, it smelled of everything good she had ever smelled put together, and instead of that smelling awful like it should it the smells all came together like colors in a master painting making something of incredible beauty.

She came across a clearing with a pond and a gravestone, it said:

In Loving Memory

Rory Arthur Williams

Aged 82

And His Loving Wife

Amelia Williams

Aged 87

She dismissed it thinking that it was probably some of the locals, but then again she hadn't seen anyone around, a local or one of the crew and just as she turned around the ship she had hitchhiked on took off.

"Wait!" she shouted not caring if she got caught, they hadn't been scheduled to leave this early she was sure of it, they couldn't leave her here. She had no idea what solar system she was it, or if this was even an inhabited planet, all she knew was that it's name was Swanmingo and when your life is in the balance that is not very much to go on!
