I didn't know what to expect when I pulled up to the address Kelly sent me.
All I could do on the drive there was hope that whatever had her in tears wasn't anything like what she just went through at Amber's house.
I dealt with Adam and I'd do the same to Lake with no question but all my brain would let me focus on was how scared Kelly sounded on the phone.
That thought alone had me going twenty over, running red lights and gripping the steering wheel so hard it felt like the veins in my hand would pop.
I told her fifteen minutes, I made it in half.
Nothing could've prepared me for the scene that unfolded before me when I finally whipped my car down that dead end street and threw it into park behind Lake's Honda.
"Hey!" I yell as I immediately abandon the driver's seat and run across the street to the driveway of an old house.
The music coming from inside isn't loud enough to drown out the yelling right in front of me.
As soon as I see Kelly lying motionless on the ground, surrounded by figures delivering merciless kicks and blows to her body—a switch flips in my brain.
I jump in the mix—no clue who I'm punching, who's hitting me back and I honestly don't care.
