You're me, I'm you

I open my eyes to see nothing but a white space around me. I look around to carefully observe my surroundings. If I could describe it, it would be "like being inside a Canvas" from the white sky and white floor, although there was a big screen on the wall which was the only thing that isn't white. There seems to be a remote right under it. Oddly enough, I wasn't scared nor anxious. Before I even began to understand the situation, I heard a voice behind me.

"hello!" Says a high pitch voice.

I turn around to see who it was, it appears to be a little girl. She seems to be around 11 years old and was wearing the same clothes I'm wearing with the same hair, same eyes— wait... Is that me?

"What's your name? I'm Kianne!" She— no, I(?) say in an extroverted manner.

Questions of sorts came flooding in my head like the great flood. What is happening? How is this happening? Is that really me? Am I dead? Was I always that extroverted?

"Um are you okay?" I—...no, the little one (much better) asks due to the awkwardness.

It took one big sigh out of me to ease my mind from the flood of questions. After calming my mind, I began to think; should I straight up tell her that we are the same person? Probably.

"I'm... Kianne" I reply reluctantly. Feeling anxious for some reason although I'm sure nothing will happen even if the little one knows.

I glance at her face to see her reaction. Her big eyes stared at me intensely as if processing what I had just said. Was it always this awkward for people whenever I do this?. I began to feel even more awkward due to the silence. After a long while, she finally replied.

"That's... Cool!!!" She exclaims, eyes twinkling in excitement. "So that means you're me from the future?"

In this age and mind, I so badly want to tell her; "no shit, Sherlock" but alas, I can't do that to a literal child. That aside, she believes me? That easily? Now I understand why the people around me describe me as naive and gullible.

"Yea" I reply, trying to appear as friendly as possible to my kid self.

Suddenly the tv screen opens on its own. But how? I haven't even touched the remote yet?

Words started typing and appearing on the screen.

"Welcome to White Space."
"Here, you'll be conversing about certain topics that will appear on the screen."
"Details of memories will appear on this screen so be careful with your thoughts"
"This is not a game. Finish every question and you'll be free."
"Press the remote when you're ready"

The tv types out before switching off. I stare blankly at it for a few moments, processing what just happened and what is about to happen.

"I don't really get it but it sounds fun!" She exclaims cheerfully, almost jumping due to overwhelming excitement.

Hearing that, I took a hard sigh and began questioning my life once again. On the bright side, at least I know I won't be stuck here forever with my cringy self. I don't know when I'll be able to snap back to reality, but one thing is for sure.

This is gonna be one hell of a time.
