Scary shopping spree

Nik & Beibei go shopping... but will one of them survive the horrors of the mall?

Halloween is a time of fun, candy, and most importantly: costumes! It was a perfect time for Beibei and Nik to discuss their costume ideas together. Entering the large shopping center, their eyes widened as they looked up at the scenery. Every corner was filled with shops, game halls and even a food court and theater! A fun day, and just before Halloween too. The place was covered in spooky decorations featuring: spiders, skeletons and more. Costumes of famous horror figures were on display for every costume and clothing store. The blue duo had a different costume in mind however...

"So what are you gonna go as?" Beibei swished her sturgeon tail in excitement with every step. "I gotta be this blue-tie guy from a band Huanhuan likes.." she sighed. Nik smiled but looked away for a second. "Awe c'mon! Tell me!!" The sturgeon girl got more excited by Nik's costume than her own. "Oh uh.. I'm gonna be- HATSUNE MIKU?!" He screamed. He pointed at a costume standing right outside the window of a cosplay store. "Oh sweet a perfect tie for my costume!" Bei smiled chipper as she hopped into the store, with Nik following along.

The store was surprisingly large for a cosplay store. It was mainly filled with pop culture and especially anime costumes, which neither of the minded. Beibei looked around for a blue tie, while Nik joyously stared at the costume of the vocaloid singer. He sang along to one of her songs, catching the attention of his fishy companion. She was mesmerized by his voice. "Say dude, you gotta sing more often!" She said, "we could sing together and start a band maybe, Huan plays guitar and bass". Nik blushed slightly because it felt embarrassing. "Eh, let's just get the costume". They spent more time chatting about their costumes than they realized. Before the blue alien could pay for his outfit, his friend pulled his arm. "Can we please explore the store first.." Beibei looked Nik in the eyes with a puppy dog expression. "Uh, sure" he sighed. They took their time exploring the store, noticing all the costumes they had authentic to their original sources. Having so much fun in the store, they run around for hours on end...

"Wh... where are we" Nik looked at his surroundings for his Olympic friend. The once colorful store they were in was decaying and dead. Plants have been eating at the mall for what looked like decades. Rats and bugs have seeped their way in without anyone to stop them. The costume he held had broke holes in the seams. Beibei was no where in sight, that was the worst part. The alien boy got up from the dusty broken stone floor. A look outside of the entrance from the store... it showed no sign of life. The entire mall looked abandoned. The roaches scurried away from the ground after each step the confused boy took. "B-Beibei?" Echoed through the stores, "Anyone?". Utter silence. It was more horrifying than he could imagine silence to feel like. Looking up, he had hope that someone might be upstairs.

Nik climbed up the vine-ridden escalators. "Hello?" his voice hinted at the sound of near tears. Upon the food court at the highest floor, he continued his search for life that wasn't just vermin or bugs. Every restaurant was closed, old trays had stains on them with maggots sucking off every hint of rotten food. Each step echoed through the place, scaring away any small creature lurking. He heard noise come from a fish restaurant and turn his head towards it. "What would Beibei do at a fish restaurant? Beats me.." he said. The blue atmospherik slowly got closer to the abandoned restaurant. It had a banner that clearly used to be blue, with small drawings of sturgeons on the side. "How.. specific". Nik heard his name get whispered inside the food court. The voice stung like a siren's song, but it was his only hope. Getting closer, he saw a rat run away, which made Nik jump back. "C'mon Bei..". One more obstacle in his way: a door. Without a second thought, he pushed it open. His eyes widened in fear from what he saw as he took a step back. The head of his best friend on a place. Her one of her eyes was eaten by a mouse, and her hat was destroyed by plants. Tripping over another rodent, he hit his head and felt himself slowly knock out. He heard the voice call him again. "Nik.." purred the voice.

"Nik.."

....

"NIK!" Yelled Beibei. Nik snapped out of his daydream-nightmare. "Whuh-woah". Beibei looked slightly annoyed at her friend. "Nik, what would you like to order?!". The alien couldn't respond, but hugged the sturgeon. "I-I'll just have a drink... imsogladyourback". The fish couldn't help but wag her tail in joy again. A hug was unexpected, but not unwelcome. "Thank you... and what was that last part?" She asked. "Nothing!" He lied.

"..wait, didn't you wanna get some food?"
"Ehehehe im not hungry anymore I-I'll eat at home!"
"You sure?"
"Yeah!"

Nik looked at his friend with a warm smile. "Ooh! I gotta te you about this crazy nightmare I had.."
