It was a stormy night, like many others in Hawkins, Indiana.

The two boys sit still on the ground, playing Uno, yelling when the other places a +4 card and wins. The thunder rumbles, the wind whistles and the tree leaves rustle in the cold night, and all is well at the Wheeler house.

Upstairs, Karen is making a pie, while Ted plays barbies with Holly. Nancy lay upstairs, reading 'Frankenstein' while Robin listens to music and does her homework.

Back in the basement, the winds were getting stronger, making the back door rattle, while through the small, closed windows, you could see the sky turning a pink-ish, green-ish color. Pink from the hue of the sunset, but green, signifying a tornado.

"Hah! I win, again! That's what, 3-0 now?" Mike bragged toWill, who was grinning wider than ever.

"Oh shut UP! You only won because I suck at shuffling.."

"Fine, but it's a win nonetheless!" Mike spoke, and Will shook his head, but the unusually colored sky outside caught his eye.

"Mike, the sky is green." Will said, and immediately stoped laughing.

"Be serious, Will, no it's not-" Mike turned and looked at the small window and flinched as soon as he heard the sirens going off. "Well, maybe it's a little green.."

"I'm scared.." Will said, pulling his knees to his chest, trying to calm his breathing. He heard Karen yell upstairs.

"EVERYONE, IN THE BASEMENT, NOW!"

Mike stood up quickly, knocking over the deck of Uno cards, and helping Will up. His hands were sweaty as he pulled him close. Mike could feel Will's heart beat against his chest, which made him feel safer.

"It's gonna be okay, Will, I'll be here the whole time." Mike whispered as Holly walked down the stairs.

Everyone heard a loud bang, followed by everything going dark. Mike's grip on Will tightened as they went to the corner of the basement, farthest from the little windows.

"Ted, grab the flashlights!" Karen yelled from the bottom of the stairs.

"Alright, alright! Calm down, woman.." He mumbled inaudibly under his breath.

"Mike, I'm scared. I'm so fucking scared."

"Will, its okay, storms are normal."

"But it sounds like a big one. Look out the windows, Mike, the sky is green."

"I think air pollution is the least of our concerns right now, but I'm glad you're worried about that."

"No, Mike, when the sky is green, it means tornadoes and shit..."

"Oh, right, that too."

Will rolled his eyes and smiled lightly. They sat down, backs leaning against the cold wall, knees being hugged tight to their chests. Mike takes Will's hand in his and he starts running his thumb over Will's knuckles. They had been sitting so close together that Mike could feel the heat radiating off of Will without touching him.

"Mike, what if everything gets destroyed and, and, and-"

"Shh, Will, its going to be okay."

A pause.

Will rested his head on top of Mikes shoulder, still holding onto the others hand. Mike lightly pressed his lips against the top of Will's head, and rested his own on top of it.
