IT WAS 26 FEBRUARY 2012. melanie was sat on the couch at the louds, waiting for her dads to come home with her new baby brother, clyde. even if melanie was only four she knew exactly what was happening. her dads were running outside trying to fetch a baby from a stork. she was sure of it.
she looked up at the door, that opened. lori walked in, her dads nowhere to be found. so she put her head back again, resting against the couch backrest, slightly crushing her big afro buns. "melanie, what is it?" lori said as she walked over to the four year old, crouching down next to her.
"do you think my brother will be fine?" melanie spoke up, even though she was only four she could speak full and correct sentences. early talkers.
lori nodded "he will be just fine, don't worry too much about it, okay?" she said. lori was eight, but she always knew what to say to soothe someone, in this case melanie.
melanie had pretty much been over to the louds almost more times then she could remember, since she became friends with lynn junior, who was the same age as her, just a little more agressive. but also because her dads needed some help, trying to figure out how to change diapers, how to potty train and especially how to say no. so what could be a bigger help then the neighbours, who had five kids, and were pregnant again?
THE LATE MORNING OF FEBRUARY 27TH. melanie slept over at the louds that night, her dads not wanting her to sleep alone in an empty house, she didn't mind sleeping over, just the fact that she would have to keep waiting to meet her baby brother was making and keeping her hyper.
as if on cue the door opened and her dads walked in, her baby brother in harold's arms. rita and lynn sr called their kids downstairs while melanie was jumping up and down infront of the feet of her dads.
her dads sat her and all the louds kids on the couch and carefully let lori hold clyde, she was the most responsible. the five louds, rita and lynn sr, and the mcbrides were all watching in awe. melanie was stood infront of lori and clyde.
she kissed clyde's forehead and whispered a not-so-soft "i promise to always protect you"
