(Author's Note: Hey, readers. It's Halloween today for me in my country, so I posted this special chapter to wish you all a Happy Halloween. Stay safe, and be spooooky~)
You walked alone out in the forest after finishing a mission. Mitsuri walked along with you as you followed Sasuke. "Wow, you're really strong and fast, Yoriichi-san. It was like, whooosh! And the demons' heads got cut off and rolled down the ground!" Mitsuri narrated your movements. "Thank you for the compliment, Kanroji-san. But you didn't have to narrate what I just did." You said. "Oh, but I had to. You don't get to see someone with that speed and strength everyday. Even Uzui-san was slower than you." Mitsuri said. You then let out a yawn. "My apologies. I'm starting to feel sleepy." You said. "Now that you mention it, I'm sleepy too." Mitsuri said, and let out a yawn into her hands. She then jumped on a tree and sat on it. "How about we take a quick nap, Yoriichi-san?" She said.
You nodded, as you were too sleepy to argue. Mitsuri soon slept on the branch that she sat on, meanwhile, you leaned on a nearby tree, letting it support you and dozed off. Yes, Yoriichi died on his feet, so it's not a surprise that he can sleep on his feet too. As you fell into deep slumber, you suddenly felt your body move. You couldn't open your eyes just yet. According to you, you were walking amongst dead trees that were carved into scary faces, and the background was blood red. You didn't mind it at the slightest. You've been in worse nightmares than this, and you weren't about Yoriichi since you knew that he saw worse than this. You were walking, until you came across a cliff. You felt something sinister, so you woke up. You harshly opened your eyes, and to your discomfort, you were standing near the same cliff that you saw in your dream.
You felt a hand grab your ankle and yank you down the cliff. You held onto the ground to keep yourself from making whatever was pulling you down. You quickly did a front flip and landed on the cliff. You ran towards the direction that you originally came from. 'How could I have let this happen? What even was that? Was I sleep walking?' Thoughts raced in your mind as you ran to where you remembered taking a nap. You looked up, and saw Mitsuri sleeping on her initial tree branch. You sighed in relief. You looked up at the sky. The blood moon glowed in the night sky, giving off an eerie feeling, despite its beauty. This was maybe you felt a paranormal activity. The blood moon was bound to give off negative energy that feeds the vengeful spirits that were doomed to roam the earth for all eternity. This was a bad omen, and you were really superstitious at this point.
You felt a hand grab your shoulder from behind. You quickly turned behind you, only to see no one there. Your senses were on high alert. You didn't know how dangerous spirits in Kimetsu no Yaiba are during the blood moon, and you didn't want to know. You didn't even practice exorcism, so you had no idea how to deal with paranormal activities. Forget that, you didn't know what attracted them to you. You used Blue Spider Lily magic to see the spirits. Big mistake. You saw hundreds, maybe thousands of spirits swarming the clearing that you were standing on. Most of them wore white kimonos with white triangles on their heads, while some looked like demons. They all looked at you with greed and longing, and it was then that you realised... that the Blue Spider Lily magic was the force that was attracting them to you.
You pretended to see nothing and started walking, keeping your magic to see the spirits, and your hand on your sword, ready to slice through anything that screamed danger. Your main goal was to keep them as far away from Mitsuri as possible. You felt the spirits follow you, like wolves following their prey, until they can hunt it down. You speed to a jog, and sprinted away from there. You weren't scared, but you didn't want to know what will happen to Yoriichi if they caught you. Then, you had an idea. You abruptly stopped near a small pond and took out your sword, facing the horde of spirits. They all came to a halt. You swung your sword as hard as you could, and as you expected it, the friction between the sword and air ignited fire that spread through the cold air. The spirits screamed in fear and flew far away from you without turning back to you.
You dipped the now hot blade in the pond, and it cooled down with a sizzle. The lack of warmth made it turn to black color. You sheathed the sword and looked at the blood moon. It was in a perfectly round shape. You figured out that it would take some time before the blood moon would be over, so as dangerous as it sounded, you decided to take a stroll in the woods. You walked back the direction that you came. Suddenly, you heard a man's voice saying, "Po. Po. Po." Yep, you weren't in the mood to deal with whatever Hachishaku-sama had in store for you, so you bolted to the opposite side of the voice, and took a turn there. You reached the clearing that you were originally from. You saw that Mitsuri was still asleep, snoring lightly and sleeping comfortably in her tree branch.
"Why, hello there." You heard a woman say. You turned around to look at her. She looked at you with a predatory gaze, sharpening her nails. You didn't know she was there, so she must be a spirit. You weren't having this. You smiled creepily at her. "It's nice to meet you too." You said. The woman screamed on top of her lungs and glided away. You looked at Mitsuri, who was still sound asleep. 'She slept through that?!' You thought. You looked at the night sky. The blood moon almost waned. You decided to take a break and leaned against the tree and took a nap. A few minutes later, Mitsuri woke up. She climbed down silently as to not disturb you. She quietly landed near you, and her eyes couldn't help but glance at you. The moonlight shined on you, illuminating your beauty.
Mitsuri blushed as she looked at you. "Oh, what a handsome man you are, Yoriichi-san. So strong, so gorgeous, so perfect. The hair that resembles the rising sun, and that mark that resembles the rays of the sun. You're so perfect. Too perfect for me to be with you. You're here in front of me, yet, so far from my reach. But, if I can change that, I gladly will. One kiss is all it." Mitsuri muttered poetically. She held your cheek with her hand and stood on her toes to kiss you. You woke up just in time, feeling a cool hand on your cheek. You yelled and jumped, clinging onto the first branch that came in contact with your flight, like a scaredy-cat. Mitsuri was startled by your action and looked up. She realised how inappropriate that was, and blushed hard due to embarrassment. "Wah! I'm so sorry, Yoriichi-san!" She yelled.
You jumped down, landing on your feet near her. "That's okay, Kanroji-san. I had a nightmare, and thought that you were the scary woman. I apologise for startling you. By the way, what were you doing this close to my face?" You said, faking innocence. "Oh, that was nothing, nothing at all." Mitsuri said. You literally had a heart attack, and you legit thought that Obanai would miraculously come out of some bush and attack you after seeing Mitsuri kiss you. "Anyway, let's part ways." You said and waved goodbye to her. Mitsuri turned on her heal and walked away. You, on the other hand, sprinted to the safety of the Celestial Estate and quickly made it to your room. You took out your futon and laid it down, and instantly sank into it. You clung onto the warm blanket and tried to sleep. You then felt an eerie presence. You sat up, and saw the most hideous face ever.
You screamed in fear at the jump scare and took your pillow. You hit the owner of the hideous face repeatedly. "GOD, SAVE THY CHILD FROM THIS CRUSTY, MUSTY, DUSTY ZOMBIE AHH FACED SMELLY, ROTTEN, WHATEVER IT IS!" You stopped when you heard Michikatsu laugh. The owner of the hideous face removed the mask, revealing Michikatsu. "Oh, my God, that was a priceless reaction, brother." He said and continued laughing. You threw the pillow aside and left your room. "Nee-san! Your husband became a fully fledged prankster!" You yelled as you came into Haruhime's room. You saw Haruhime and the actual Michikatsu in their shared futon. "What? I didn't do anything." Michikatsu said. "Let's get out of here right now, there's a vengeful spirit that looks exactly like you. It had no shadow." You said. You took their hands and dragged them out of the window, ignoring their shocked faces. You just wanted them to get outside this estate until dawn.
You, Michikatsu and Haruhime jumped through the window and sprinted out of the estate. You felt eyes on you. You didn't dare turn back, knowing that the spirit will follow you if you do. The fake Michikatsu looked at you with a creepy smile. It's neck cracked when it tilted it's head to the side, the hideous face mask hung in his hand. Michikatsu and Haruhime looked back, and let out a bone-chilling cackle that was heard by the inhabitants of the surrounding areas of the estate. Scared, they looked ahead and ran. It's bloodshot eyes looked at them as you ran away from sight, plotting your next meeting with it. It disappeared in a cloud of black smoke. You thought that it was strange that you felt its aura. You couldn't feel vengeful spirits, no matter how much they tried to show it. As you ran to safety somewhere, the only question that came to your mind was...
What on Earth was that paranormal entity?
