See that adorable creature in the picture? That's what you call a great white shark, one of more than 530 species.
I bet you're thinking: What are you friggin' talking about?! Adorable. Pfft. All sharks are just plain ugly, scary, and dangerous.Let me tell you some things about sharks:
1) Sharks are portrayed as scary monsters because of all those horror-shark films. The fact that they have big, terrifying teeth doesn't help matters.
2) THERE IS NOTHING "PLAIN" ABOUT SHARKS. Sharks play a very important role in nature. They are the key to the health of our oceans and climate. Sharks feed on the sick, injured, and old creatures of the seas, which protects the delicate balance of our ecosystems, and insures a healthy ocean and climate.
3) Dolphins are more dangerous than sharks, ya'll, as cute as they are. Dolphins have the ability and power to kill sharks, which is a very, very hard thing to do.
4) As for the "ugly" part- I'm afraid you are mistaken. Sharks are God's creation, and all of God's creations are beautiful. (Fight me if you want. Just take into account that you will lose.)✨️FUN FACTS:✨️
● The smallest shark species in the world is called the "Dwarf Lanternshark" (or in its scientific name: "Etmopterus Perryi"). It is a species of dogfish sharks in the family of the Etmopteridae. Its size reaches a maximum known length of 20 centimeters (which is 8 inches, for all of you Americans). Plus, they light up in the dark o.O
● You know how sharks have so many teeth? Unlike humans, the shark's teeth are brittle. Very often they fall out or break, for lack of roots. This is why sharks have multiple rows of teeth. Every time a row discharges itself from a shark's mouth, there is always another row of teeth to replace the previous one.
● Did you know that sharks can never stop swimming? Sharks do not breathe like you and me, or any other creature, for that matter. Sharks use their gills to filter oxygen from the water - meaning they can't inhale or exhale, and so the only way to keep the oxygen flowing is to just keep swimming. (Did anyone understand that reference? No? Okay...)
● Sharks have inhabited Earth since more than 400 million years ago. They were here long before the dinosaurs existed, and have survived 5 mass extictions.
● Contrary to common belief, sharks kill 1 person on average each year.NOT-FUN FACTS:
● Around 100 million sharks are killed each year all across the globe for their fins and cartilage. Afterwards, their bodies are thrown back into the sea, still alive, causing the sharks to die slow, painful deaths. This all - and more - happens because people are too selfish and disgusting to give up on shark soup.
(I looked up a picture once- It was horrible! The water was red with blood.)
● While there are many good people that help sea animals back into the sater after they accidentally wash up to shore, there are also a lot of bad people that PULL THEM OUT ON TO THE SAND AND LET THEM DIE FOR THEIR ENTERTANEMENT. I saw a video of people doing this to a shark.Ironic Questions and Their Answers:
Q: Why are there so many diseases in the ocean?
A: Sharks play a very important role in keeping our waters clean and healthy. The fact that humans kill millions of them every year ruins that balance. That is the cause for all these diseases we keep hearing about.
Q: If there are so many shark species, how are they going extinct?
A: Sharks are going extinct because so many people kill them every year.
Q: Are sharks really that important to our ecosystems?
A: Yes. Sharks play an unreplaceable role in keeping our ecosystems balanced and in check.A/N: I really hope you learned something new from this.
Please don't let my anger and frustration at some people's stupid actions taint this for you. It's really important that you are aware of what is actually happening to sharks, and what they really are.
Bye, y'all. Have a good day, and love nature <3
