The campus buzzed with the energy of a new semester. A very intricate sign which reads Hanseung University hangs on top of the large silver gate. Top of the tier security and with very sophisticated technology.
The wide, sunlit pathways of their university were lined with students filling out forms, holding up ID photos, and swapping stories from the summer break. Among the bustling crowd, Lisa and Chaeyoung stood side by side, holding their freshly printed enrollment forms, watching the university’s towering buildings and lively campus.
“I can’t believe we’re finally here!” Lisa said, her voice tinged with excitement and disbelief. “We’re actually enrolling at our dream university!”
Chaeyoung smiled, nudging Lisa with her elbow. “About time. And to think we both made it here together? Studying sucks but I’ll make sure to make something great out of this!”
Lisa grinned, gripping her form tightly. “Exactly.”
They moved along to the next table in the enrollment process, but their conversation quickly shifted to the night before.
“Right! I was meant to ask.” Lisa began, “What exactly happened that night at the club? Who was that person?”
Chaeyoung let out an obvious scowl. “Alice unnie told me that we were unlucky that time. Turns out that Chahee girl came from the prestigious clan of the Kims. And those two other women were the direct descendants of the current head of the entire Kim Empire.”
Lisa gasped, her expression dawned with disbelief and astonishment. “No wayy.”
Chaeyoung nodded in agreement. “I know right! They’re literally the top 1% population of the elite wealthy people. I couldn't believe that I just saw them either.”
The two exchanged a knowing look. In their country, the Kim family was legendary—a powerful clan with influence that stretched far and wide. Everyone knew about the Kims, or at least, everyone had heard rumours.
“I’ve read about the Kim family in the news,” Chaeyoung continued. “They’ve got their hands in just about everything. Politics, business, entertainment—you name it.”
Lisa looked thoughtful. “Precisely! And it’s not just one branch of the family, either. There are different groups, each with their own territory and interests. But they’re all connected, and they all have… power.”
Chaeyoung nodded, looking intrigued and confused. “And yet, we just bumped into them at some random bar..” a thoughtful looking passed through her face.
Lisa couldn't help but also nod in agreement. “Not only that, but we literally met and talked to the future owner of the entire Kim Company. That's wild.”
They continued through the enrollment line, handing their forms to the administrator while sneaking glances at each other, thinking about the night before. The “Kims” they met had been intriguing, and their presence had lingered in their minds since then.
“Now I’m wondering how I got out of that charade unscathed. They can literally have me imprisoned or something and I’ll lose hope to even fight against them.” Lisa said finally, thinking just how dangerous and unlucky that night was.
Chaeyoung shuddered at the mention of that. “I hope that Chahee girl doesn't hold grudges. And also, why were you with her boyfriend anyway?” There was reprimanding at the way Chaeyoung speaks. She seriously eyes her best friend, giving her enough time to speak.
