Donning the mask of the white rabbit is not new to Arley. Every time she looked at her reflection, she couldn't help but see the White Rabbit that was chased by Alice and led her to Wonderland. It's a surreal feeling as she thought, but at the same time Arley knew that she wasn't as interesting as that White Rabbit.
Somehow, the mask on her face is the only thing she knows that keeps the shadows away from lingering on her friends and family. The memory of accidentally letting out those dreadful creatures in her very own home frightened her parents to the point that they almost sent her ablaze.
Arley tilted her head as she stared at the girl in front of her. A gentle, naive little rabbit among the flowers. The perfect image of how everyone sees her.
"I don't doubt this is how they always see me," Arley whispered, trying to sound cheerful.
Yet something still left her confused. There are people who wanted to witness the fire within her heart, not the gentle rabbit they knew for a long time.
Thinking about it, she realized how afraid she was to let them witness even a tiny flicker of the flames they were talking about, "If I do that, the shadows will follow and probably haunt them their entire lives."
Despite their pleas, Arley refused to drop the rabbit mask and wanted to hold on to it as long as she could. She felt bad in seeing the pities in their eyes, yet it's better to keep this thing on her, or else she would see nothing but fear inside those orbs.
Arley touched her mask, and later leant her forehead against the mirror, imagining that someone is finally able to hear her thoughts.
"Weird, but there are times I wanted to cast the shadows out of myself. Will that make me okay?"
