Jade opened her eyes and saw glowing scales and whale bones which seemed to be constructed in the form of huts. A large half-fish half-human stood in front of her, glowing patterns on their scales. Her twin Jinx was held in a bubble in the palm of this creature's hand. They were looking eye to eye and seemed to be talking while a slightly smaller creature stood by, listening and looking at her sister with admiration.
She suddenly realized that the creature had a crown-like object on their head and had several smaller servant-seeming creatures. She had heard of this creature; it was a mermaid... or maybe a siren? Her twin now seemed to be pleading with the mermaid queen, looking very scared. Truth appeared next to her and said a few words.
The queen nodded and gestured to the mermaid beside her who had been admiring Jinx and pushed her forward. This mermaid had several marks and kept a solemn face, she looked very paranoid. Truth shook the hand of the queen, then grabbed a piece of paper from the siren's hand.
Jade suddenly got pulled up to the surface along with Blue, Nuna, Jinx, Truth, and that mermaid servant girl. Everyone was confused, but Truth then spoke, "Well, we need to go to this town down by a lake to get a treasure they lost several years ago, then we have to make it back. Shouldn't be too difficult if you don't think about it."
Jinx shook her head, "No, it's not that simple. I'm going with and it is going to be SO DIFFICULT to get there. My dad won't care where I am though, so I guess that's a plus."
Truth inquired, "How are you not scared of this? We're literally from another dimension and found mermaids and have to go and rescue something to get us back home and you're acting like it's just another day?"
She shrugged, "Well, it is if you think about it... or don't. Anyways, I feel like I need to go with and I am bringing my sister. Our dad and new stepmom won't care. They're probably fighting or gambling or drinking or all three."
Truth just made a face and sighed, "Fine, we'll take you with, just don't cause trouble and don't die. Oh! Also, talk to her," She gestured to the mermaid servant, "Find out stuff while I find a way to get there." She turned around and went to read a map.
Jinx approached the mermaid, who had turned into a young woman. Her human form was of a tall, muscular teenager with short fluffy brown hair, blue-purple eyes, with a tank top, shorts, and converse shoes. Jinx was staring at her totallynotbecauseshethoughtshewashotnopenopeno
Cautiously, she asked, "What's your name ma'am?" Ma'am? What is this? 1622? God that was awkward. The girl replied, "My name's Janice, but you can call me whatever you'd like."
Nevermind, they just made awkward eye contact. Jinx nodded, "Okay, well I'm Jinx... uhm... yeah, let's go."
For a bit they just walked in awkward silence, which didn't last very long. Jinx soon got bored and tapped Janice on the shoulder lightly. Janice turned to her slightly and tilted her head. Jinx asked in an attempt to make conversation, "Sooooo, what's your favorite color?"
That question seemed to spark interest in Janice's eyes. She went on a five-minute rant about how amazing the color purple is. That's the question that started a long-lasting friendship.
