Days turned into weeks, and Lidiya found herself adjusting to her new reality, yet the unease remained ever-present. Jorden had moved into the house fully, and with him, a tension that simmered just beneath the surface. Each day was a careful dance, with Lidiya treading lightly around him, seeking clues about his true intentions.

She often caught him staring at her, a smirk playing on his lips whenever their eyes met. The way he looked at her sent shivers down her spine-part lust, part something darker. She was determined to keep her distance, but the atmosphere was electric with unspoken words.

One evening, Lidiya was tidying up the small living area when she overheard Jorden speaking on the porch. "I won't let anyone take what's mine," he hissed, his voice low and threatening. She strained to hear more, her heart racing as she slipped closer to the door.

"It's all in place," he continued, his tone conspiratorial. "The villagers don't suspect a thing. I'll have what I came for, and then I'll be rid of them."

Lidiya's breath caught in her throat, and she quickly retreated into the shadows, her heart pounding in her chest. What was he planning? What did he mean by "what's mine"?

The next morning, Lidiya decided to confront him. As she entered the kitchen, she found Jorden there, his back turned as he prepared breakfast. "We need to talk," she said firmly, trying to steady her voice despite the anxiety bubbling inside her.

"About what?" he replied, glancing over his shoulder with an infuriating smirk.

"About you and your intentions," Lidiya pressed, crossing her arms. "Why are you really here? What do you want from us?"

Jorden turned to face her, the amusement fading from his expression. "What do you think I want, Lidiya? I came to save you from despair. Your husband left you, and I'm simply trying to offer you a future."

"A future? Or your own gain?" she retorted, anger flaring within her. "You know something about Oswen's disappearance. I can feel it!"

He chuckled darkly, leaning against the counter. "You're sharper than I thought. But you're barking up the wrong tree. Oswen made his choices; I'm just here to pick up the pieces."

Lidiya's heart sank. "What do you mean?"

"Let's just say, Oswen wasn't always the honorable man you thought he was. He had secrets-dark ones

"What do you mean?" Lidiya pressed, her heart racing, feeling the palpable shift in the room as Jorden's demeanor darkened.

"Oswen is the reason my life was destroyed," he spat, his eyes narrowing as if he were recalling a personal vendetta. "I will make sure his life, family and soul is destroyed as well."

Suddenly, the atmosphere shifted around them, heavy with tension. Lidiya's breath hitched as the air grew colder, an unexplainable force enveloping them. Jorden's voice dropped an octave, becoming heavier, filled with anger that echoed like thunder in the small kitchen. "You think you know him? You have no idea what he's capable of! He's a coward!"

As if on cue, a gust of wind rushed through the room, the window shattering with a deafening crash. The candles flickered violently before extinguishing, plunging them into darkness. Lidiya's heart raced, fear gripping her as she instinctively closed her eyes, her heart pounding in her chest.

When she dared to open them again, Jorden was gone, leaving behind an oppressive silence. She felt a chill run down her spine as she realized that there was more to him than met the eye-something sinister lurking just beneath the surface.
