     ATHENA'S POV

I was waken up by the sound of my irritating alarm clock. It was already five in the morning. I switched it off and headed for the bathroom which looked like it was built in the 18s. My small apartment was not that welcoming at all due to it's old features. The furnitures are worn out. The last time I had a second hand couch brought into my apartment was when I got the my first job at sixteen at a restaurant as a waitress which is like five years ago and the last good looking couch is no longer in good shape. I had grown up in a foster home until I was of age to go and fend for myself.I was working as a librarian at the center of the city. California was too cold compared to the other winters I had experienced in the past years. After I was through with my warm shower, I put on a black leather jam suit with the down part only a short and added a grey winter coat to warm myself up.It is during the late twenties approaching my pay day the 31th of every month meaning my refrigerator was almost completely empty of food stuffs. For breakfast, I warmed up my leftover chicken and fries from McDonald's which I had bought for last night's dinner.I made myself a smoothie since I was not a hot morning food person. My late neighbour Mrs Roswell always scolded me for taking cold food or drinks in the morning. She had died just a year after her husband died four years ago. She was a good woman of dignity but looked like she missed her his too much to live on and died of a heart attack. When I was done eating my brother, I washed the plate and made sure to lock the door while going out of the apartment. It was almost 6 o'clock the time I was leaving my apartment. Whenever I moved out of the apartment, I always felt like someone was busy what me especially in the night when the was so bright in the sky. But after I had turned twenty one it even got worse. I arrived at the library by 06:35 am which meant I was early again for work was to begin around 07:00. "Good morning Mattias?" I had greeted the body guard who had just begun his morning shift which ends around 11:00. "Good morning Athena Artemisia." He answered. Mattias like remaining formal with people no matter the relationship you share with him. I some times get tired of living the same life every day when I. My routine has never changed apart from, wake up, take a shower, have breakfast, go for work and when done go straight home.I always feel like am living a life I was never destined for, like am a foreigner in this world. Maybe it's because of the mystic creatures I have been reading about for the past few months since I turned twenty one in February on the 7th.Today has been boring seeing that not many people had come to the library. I was busy reading the same book as yesterday which was about witches and wizards. It was so real and made me feel like I was actually part of this kind of world. I soon received a call from Mattias that the lady who owns the place is by the entrance. This was so unusual for the owner never visited the library. When the door opened, a lady who looked in her early walked in with a lady of my age by her left hand side. "Good afternoon ma'am." I had greeted. When she turned to look at me, both their eyes glowed purple as they locked with mine. I thought I had been dreaming to witness someone's eyes turn from their normal colour to a different one."Afternoon and you must be Athena Artemisia." The older lady had said. "Oh pardon my manners, this is Iris Derk my daughter and am Arizona Derk." Had extended her hand and I took it. " Nice to finally meet you Ma'am Arizona. I had said. " Ooh you don't have to call me that dear. You can just call me Arizona." She corrected.with a wide smile. "So how has the business been going?" Arizona had asked while Iris checked through the book shelves on the shelf with the books which contained complicated stuff. " We are here to protect you Athena. I am truly aware that you know nothing about our world but we have to protect you before you fall in the wrong hands." She had said with such a convincing face. I was too confused to make sense out of it but before I could ask a question, two large sized wolves appeared in the doorway."There you are precious little treasure." The man standing in between the two wolves had said with an evil smirk."Hand her over to me or everyone dies here."He added his eyes changing from their dark shade of blue to a golden one. Everything that was talking place now was like a TV show. " Not when am still breathing." Arizona had said with her teeth gritted. Sounded like a very protective mother in the movies I loved to watch. Arizona held my left hand while Iris held the other one as they both began to say some enchantments. Anger rose from the man who had come to kidnap me as he man as he moved towards us with high speed but I didn't have enough time to see him reach where we stood before darkness defeated my eyes.
