Niall sat comfortably in his chair on The Voice, feeling the familiar thrill of anticipation in the air. The blind auditions were always a mix of excitement and nerves, not just for the contestants but for him as well. He'd seen countless talented singers pass through, each one hoping to capture the judges' attention. But nothing could prepare him for what was about to happen. The stage lights dimmed, and the first notes of a hauntingly beautiful melody filled the room. Niall leaned in, his curiosity piqued as the singer began to belt out the words to "Story of My Life." He was drawn in, mesmerized by the rich timbre and emotional depth of the voice. It felt like a blast from the past, stirring memories he had thought were buried.

As the chorus hit, something clicked in Niall's mind. That voice... it was achingly familiar, effortlessly hitting every high note and diving into low tones. He felt a rush of recognition, his heart racing. This was a voice he had harmonized with countless times, the one he had shared stages with and felt an undeniable connection to. Without a second thought, he slammed his button, the mechanism whirring to life as his chair spun around. Time slowed as he turned to face the singer, and his breath caught in his throat. Those green eyes—sparkling and full of life—met his, framed by messy curls that he had missed more than he cared to admit.

"Harry?" Niall gasped, disbelief flooding him as he took in the sight of his old friend, his old bandmate, the one who had always meant the world to him. "Ni!" Harry's face lit up with surprise and joy, a wide grin breaking out. The audience erupted in applause, but all Niall could focus on was the man standing in front of him. It felt surreal, like stepping into a dream he didn't want to wake from. Niall didn't think twice; he jumped out of his chair and closed the distance between them in an instant. Without hesitation, he scooped Harry into his arms, pulling him into a tight embrace. Harry's laughter rang in his ears, a sound that felt like home.

"I can't believe it's you!" Niall said, his voice muffled against Harry's shoulder. The warmth of the hug enveloped him, and he felt a flood of emotions wash over him—joy, nostalgia, and something deeper that had always lingered beneath the surface. "I didn't know you were a judge!" Harry replied, his voice slightly breathless as he squeezed Niall back. "What are the odds?" Niall pulled back slightly, looking into those enchanting green eyes. "I never thought I'd see you here. I thought you were busy with your solo career."

"I am, but I couldn't resist the chance to come and try out. I didn't expect to run into you," Harry admitted, his smile softening as he searched Niall's face. "It's been too long." "Way too long," Niall agreed, his heart racing. It was true; since their hiatus, they'd both been wrapped up in their individual journeys, but the bond they shared felt as strong as ever. "You sounded amazing, mate. You always do." Harry's cheeks flushed slightly, and he looked away, shyly running a hand through his curls. "Thanks, Niall. That means a lot coming from you." They stood there, the noise of the crowd fading into the background as they got lost in each other's gaze. Memories of late-night songwriting sessions, laughter, and shared dreams flooded back to them. It was as if no time had passed at all.

"So, do you want to be on my team?" Niall asked, unable to suppress the grin spreading across his face. "I mean, I'd be a fool not to have you." Harry chuckled, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Well, you did just pick me up like I was a kid. Maybe I should go with the guy who can lift me?" Niall laughed, the sound echoing around them. "I'm pretty strong, you know. "Yeah, but I've seen you try to carry a suitcase," Harry teased, his eyes twinkling. "I think I'll need some reassurance on that front." "Oi, that was one time!" Niall protested, mock indignation coloring his tone. "But seriously, it'd be great to work with you again. Just like old times."

"Just like old times," Harry echoed, and for a moment, they both felt the weight of everything left unsaid between them. As the crowd continued to cheer, Niall realized he didn't just want Harry on his team for the competition; he wanted him back in his life, fully, like it used to be. He wanted to explore this unexpected reunion, to reignite the spark that had always existed between them. "Let's make some new stories," Harry said, his expression turning earnest. "Together." Niall nodded, his heart swelling. "Together." With that, they turned to face the judges, ready to embark on this new journey side by side, and for Niall, it felt like coming home.
