Pride is like poison for the mind and spirit.
If we are not careful, we can be blinded by pride and it can spread to those around us and gradually poison their mindsets too. I say this, but I haven't really explained how pride can be so negative. When i say the word 'pride', i don't mean the lgbtqia+ community or those who are part of it. I mean the actual word. You see, pride can take over one's mind and make them think they did it all to achieve what they did. But in actuality, it was combination of them, those around them, and the Lord. (Mostly the Lord)
The Lord guides our steps in the right direction towards success so that we may achieve what his goals for us are. Your might have already heard the saying 'He has a plan for each and one of us" and its true. That plan comes with many highs, but also many lows. It might be easy to blame him for all the lows, but really we should thank him. This is because all of the hard times strengthen us and our faith so we may grow in spirit. For those who are curious in what the phrase "grow in spirit" means, its basically how someone grows in their faith with the lord. They gain a stronger connection with him and grow closer to him.
But let's focus back on pride. Like i said before, pride can take over one's mind and make them selfish and take accountability for all that they've done. This is why you may hear songs talk about how pride is dangerous. One of my favorite songs, "Alters over stages" by Josiah Queen, talks about how "the funny thing about pride is that you have it all you life; but the moment you think you don't, its gotten your eyes". What the artist means by this, is that pride can easily blind us from the truth if we are not careful. We must always remember to stay humble and be cautious with our words and our minds, and that we mustn't forget to always be mindful of our pride. This is so that we are safe from the attacks of the evil one. The attacks of the evil one basically means safe from harm or attacks from Satan.
An area where people may struggle with pride is gaining popularity. People can struggle with staying humble when they've gained so much based off of their words or actions. Another one of my favorite songs, "LOW KEY" by Forest Frank", talks about his experience with gaining fame. One of his lyrics addresses this directly, and this song actually focuses on staying humble even with all the extra fame. "I've been blowing up, but you won't find me in the sky; 'cause you know what they say about pride". Forest talks about how pride's reputation isn't all that positive. This circles back to my claim in the beginning and how pride can be poisonous to our mind and to our spirit if we aren't careful.†
For all those who may not understand certain terms i use, i apologize. Since i have been around these kinds of ideas and what i call truths y whole life, i am familiar with these terms and typically talk to those who are also familiar with these terms. Throughout this "Journal", i will be using these kinds of terms, and with newer ones i will provide simple definitions. If you don't understand said definitions, then it might be better to ask someone you know or to consult google.
