6 am...
"Six bodies and still no hint at who the killer could be." muttered Detective Sage, as she stared at the crime scene. Her partner, Detective Quinn nods in agreement.
"This case is the most difficult case I've ever worked on. 6 murders but this is crazy, not a fingerprint, no clue, no DNA, nothing. Whoever this is, they know how to disappear." he commented, nervously sipping his coffee. She nodded and walked over to the body, ducking down to avoid the yellow crime tape. Her partner follows as they walk through the crime scene, as she bends down to observe the body, she notices something near his foot.
"Hey, Quinn, look at this. There's something poking out of this guy's shoe." she remarked. Quinn walks over and takes a look.
"Yeah, it looks like a piece of paper..." he trailes off, Sage reached out with a gloved hand and tugged the paper out. It was a crumpled piece of paper that had words spelled in a garish shade of red. Sage flattens out the paper and reads the note.
"I have claimed 6 victims so far, how many more will it take for you to find the clues and stop me. - The Witcher." she read aloud. Quinn froze.
"What do they mean by clues? You're telling me that there were clues and we didn't see?" he gulped. "What if they were hidden, what if they got thrown out because they weren't useful, what if we thought they didn't matter and, and... we, if word gets out we'll lose our jobs. We need to look closer at the victims." he quaked. Sage carefully took off her gloves and put the note in a bag, before grabbing Quinn.
"Enough, panicking isn't going to help us in this situation, okay? Your an amazing detective, the smartest in the department, that's why you're here. Not Jane, or Mike, or even Michel. Got that?"
"You go check the morgue for more information, if there was anything in their body or a note hidden somewhere in their belongings and I'll go home to review the reports from the cases okay?" she asked, shaking him to snap him out of his worry. He looked at her and nodded.
"Okay Sage, t-thanks." he mumbled as he took back his coffee and took a nervous sip. Sage smiled and picked up the bag with a note in it. As they walked out, other officers walked over to grab the bag, but Sage declined saying she'll bring it in herself. As she bade the others goodbye, Quinn took a deep breath, it was going to be okay, as long as Sage was there with him to solve this.

It was now 6 pm, and Sage was at home preparing dinner for herself. She hummed along to the radio as she cooked the chicken. She placed the food precisely on the plate, rice on one side, vegetables and meat separate from each other. She placed the plate on the table and sat down with a glass of red wine in hand as she drank and ate her dinner. She got up as she finished the last bite of her meal and placed the plate gently in the sink before shutting all the windows and doors, and covered them with the blinds. She casually sauntered to the staircase and headed upstairs, and opened the guestroom door.
"Hello there..." she said.
A man is tied up in the bare room, frantically trying to escape the chair he was bound to.
"Let me go! Please, I have a daughter, I'm all she has, please!" he begged. Sage smiled and picked up a knife.
"They'll catch you one day, you'll see, then you'll be where you belong as the rest of us finally see you get justice!"
"Don't worry about your daughter, I'll make sure she gets into a good family where they'll care for her and give her the world. As for me, I'll make sure I'm never caught, because, oh yeah, I'm a detective, so I have the power here." holds up the bag with the note. "I'm sure the police would just LOVE another note from me."
"As for you, this was fun, but sadly I'm going to have to cut things short for us..." she smiled.
"Goodbye."
