a/n hi I'm back tomorrow I will be posting the last chapter<3
It was a gray morning on December 14th, with a biting chill that made the school feel colder than usual. Everyone seemed caught up in the holiday rush—everyone except Alice. She moved quietly through the halls, gripping an envelope in her hand, her face pale but determined. The envelope was crumpled slightly, as if she had read it over and over.
In the teachers’ lounge, Ms. Garcia and Mr. Lane looked up in surprise as Alice stepped in. She didn’t usually go to the teachers for anything, but her voice was strong as she spoke.
“Ms. Garcia, Mr. Lane,” Alice started, her gaze steady, “I found this in my mailbox last night. I… I think someone’s trying to get rid of Kali, and I think it’s Daily.”
She handed the note over to Ms. Garcia, who read it silently, her brow furrowing. Mr. Lane took it next, his expression darkening as he scanned the words:
“She doesn’t deserve to be part of our group anymore. She’s ruined everything. I’ll make sure Kali’s out of the picture. She won’t see it coming.”
Ms. Garcia turned her serious gaze back to Alice. “Do you know where this came from?”
Alice bit her lip, casting her eyes down. “I don’t know for sure, but Daily… she’s been really upset about all the drama between us. And this sounds like something she might say, especially with how tense things have been.”
The teachers exchanged a look before Ms. Garcia nodded, her voice calm. “Alright, Alice. We’ll get to the bottom of this.”
Not long after, Daily and Kali were called down to the office, confusion and worry written across their faces. Alice kept her distance in the hallway, observing from afar as Ms. Garcia led them into the room, the note lying on her desk like an accusation.
Kali crossed her arms, eyes darting suspiciously toward Daily. “What’s this about?”
Ms. Garcia held up the note. “Alice found this in her mailbox last night. It mentions plans to ‘get rid of’ you, Kali, and Alice believes Daily may have written it.”
Daily’s eyes went wide. “What? I would never do that!”
Ms. Garcia’s face softened slightly, but she didn’t back down. “I know this may seem out of nowhere, Daily, but the tone of this note is serious. We’re going to need to investigate, including comparing handwriting samples.”
Kali stood back, her mouth set in a grim line, as the teachers retrieved past assignments from each of the girls. Daily’s face went pale, her protests quieting as she realized the situation’s gravity. Alice kept a blank expression, a mask of concern on her face as Ms. Garcia began to compare the samples to the note.
It took only a few moments for Ms. Garcia’s eyes to narrow. She looked back and forth between the samples and the note, her brows knitting together.
“Actually… Alice, could you stay after a moment? I’d like to talk with you privately.”
Kali and Daily watched as Alice’s face fell, her cool demeanor cracking. She stammered as she nodded, her cheeks flushing. Once the others had left, Ms. Garcia looked at Alice with a calm yet knowing gaze.
