Math Classrooms Stink

Being dumped at the high school by Optimus Prime was not on Tara's bucket list of things to explain. She had to go around her entire first classroom saying her father was a truck driver (she never even had a dad, he left to go to the grocery store). The school itself smelled like sweaty bodies combined with a Bath and Body Works infused into one horrible stench.

It was a small artificially lit room and almost gave her a headache on the spot. Worst off, she was positioned on the far side of the room in the front. Now there was no way for her to be on her phone!

The teacher was a short woman with a bob haircut and an incredibly small voice. Tara was in the front and she could hardly hear what she was saying! She was already behind in every subject and it seemed this teacher could only make it worse.

"Psst!" A feminine voice whispered from behind her. Tara turned her head as discreetly as possible and spotted a girl with curly hair and freckles from the corner of her eye. "Did you hear what the teacher said?" Tara didn't even know what the class was about, let alone what the teacher said!

"I don't even know what we are doing in this class," Tara whispered back, causing her to laugh loudly. She quickly covered her mouth, but to Tara's surprise the teacher didn't even notice!

"You don't have to worry. Doctor Borga never hears any of us. Or sees any of us on our phones," She held up her cell phone and Tara took notice of a small charm with the image of Kasane Teto hanging from the phone case.

"You listen to vocaloids too!?" Tara exclaimed a bit too quickly after noticing the charm. It could be just something this girl found at a shop and thought it was cool. What if she thinks Tara is weird?

"Yeah! You do too?" She leaned forward on her desk after taking note the teacher (who was apparently named Doctor Borga) wasn't looking. "My favorite is Kasane Teto. Who's yours?"

Tara let out a huge sigh of relief. Sure, she listened to vocaloid music around the base and showed all the Autobots her favorite vocaloids, but she had no idea if the kids here listened to vocaloids. But she did.

"I like Flower, she sounds really nice." Tara replied and felt a surge of confidence. She could talk to people just like she had been told. "I'm Tara. My parents moved me to public school because apparently I need to touch grass." Parents, as in the Autobot leader and some government therapist who observed Tara's lack of friends as a "problem".

"Same, except for me people think I'm going to become a super senior because of this class. Oh, I'm Navia by the way," Navia, Tara would likely forget that in the next five minutes. At least they made students wear their names on these paper stickers that were stuck to their shirts.

After a minute there was a silence, mostly because Doctor Borga decided to hand out worksheets and demand silence for the working atmosphere. However, the smell was enough to disturb that working atmosphere Doctor Borga was striving for. To make matters worse for Tara was the piece of paper in front of her was nothing she understood. Why did she need to find the length of Gregory's fence! He should just measure it himself!

Taking Navia's (?) advice, she took a picture to show to Jazz later when she would complain about this class.

Tara struggled with the entire worksheet and only barely finished it due to the help of Photomath. It was nothing like Wheeljack had taught her. And frankly, Tara trusted Wheeljack over Doctor Borga.

The period following that didn't make Tara's day much better. It was ten times worse and she was tempted to actually run away from school like Jazz suggested. She had no energy, kids were screaming during the lesson, and Tara missed the quieter atmosphere of Wheeljack's lab. She missed lunch when Bumblebee would take her to get Chick-Fil-A, and now she was going to have to be the stereotypical new girl in a teenage high school movie.

"Tara!" The girl from math class ran up to her in the hallway and started to walk beside her. Tara had to glance at the paper ID to figure out her name again. "You should eat with me and my friends. Unless you don't want to." She added after her offer. Navia might as well be a savior because Tara didn't know what she would do. Eat alone in some corner? Play on her phone and kill half her battery?

"Sure!" Was she too eager? Did she come off as too strong?
