Adele walked through her school hallways with her friend Ava. Ava held her hand tight. I followed without protesting *much*. She stopped in her tracks and waited for Ava whenever all the popular girls and guys approached Ava.

I suck at socializing, I always did. All my friends was just the opposite. My best friend Ava was no exception. I always thought I was ugly, more like I know I'm ugly. My best friend Ava was the prettiest girl in class and all the guys from the ugliest to the most popular guys in class were behind her.

As she talked to the popular guy Joshua who always liked her, I just stood a step behind feeling all awkward. "Can I take you out on a date?" Joshua asked. I heard that. I knew eavesdropping was not the best habit but I heard that. Ava have always had feeling for Joshua. She was definitely saying yes. "What about tomorrow? I'm hanging out with Adele today" Ava replied. I freezed in my tracks, I was *delighted*. She was ready to ignore her all time crush for a day just for me!! But my guilt took over my happiness as usual. "No, I want you to go out with him tonight, you don't have to hangout with me today". I interrupted. I knew she would come up with an excuse but I walked away before she could say another word.

I walked home alone today since I had no other friends, obviously. Halfway home, I felt someone following me. I didn't stop. I didn't want to talk to any humans right now. So I pretended to not notice. "Hey....all alone, huh?" the popular basketball captain Aiden asked stepping in front of me, blocking my way. He was almost towering over me with his height, he was too close for my comfort, his usual smirk present on his face. "Um....yeah, did you....need something?" I asked awkwardly. "Well, I didn't need anything. Just wanted to talk, you know?"
He said casually with his hands inside his pockets.

Talk?! Talk!! to me?? Out of everyone me?? Why would the most popular guy in school ever want to talk to me?
I soon calm down my inner self thinking he just want me to do his homework or something. "You okay?" He asked to my awkward face. Of course I wasn't *okay*.
"Yeah,I'm okay" I brushed it off. "I have to go now" I walked away knowing he would never ever try to talk to me again. I walked until I tripped and fell into the ground. I knew it. I had to be clumsy in front of him. But before I could fall, he grabbed my hand pulled me close to him. My head was resting on his chest, I could feel, hear his heartbeat. I stayed there for a while, lost in my thoughts.
