She wobbled onto the heels of her foot, each step hobbled and sent her catching her next step. The road was barren for the exception of the tall consuming pin needle trees that huddled over her. They spread for forever, following the only road to her old town.
The moon didn't light her way tonight. Her world currently looked shadowed and darkened especially from what just occurred to her.
'I thought when I died I would be light and weightless'
"But I feel heavier, like my...bones...weigh ..more.." her voice came out in gasps and desperate heaves, as if talking itself were too painful.
Dragging herself with each unbearable step she tumbled multiple times, regaining her balance temporarily before continuing in her search home.
The road appeared longer then what it used to be. From what she remembers it wouldnt have taken her long to reach the stop sign.
It felt like shes been walking for hours. The trees were so familiar that it seemed she was looking at copies and copies of the same one.
The road curved ahead, this was the point of home, she recognized the roads structure, a long wide black road, riddled by sunken points of holes from bad maintenance. At the very end there was a twisting curve, it was that landmark known well by anyone who lived in her home town.
All she wanted to do was get home.
The holidays were right around the corner.
Her mother and father were waiting for her with open arms.
Her legs croaked and popped. Relentlessly she had walked this road for who knows how long. Looking down she could faintly feel the pulse of her swollen legs but she persisted, all she had to do was round the corner, start towards the stop sign and home would be in her path.
She could see the trees disperse less and less the closer she got to that rounding point, stumbling uncomfortably forward her view twisted to the road ahead of her.
Orange roadblocks blocked a single lane, police tape aligned them, as the scene ahead gave reason to these saftey procedures.
The once tall pine trees looked dented, as a strong force had hit them head on.
Oil and dark paint littered the road floor, dried liquid splattered all around, especially around the dent on the trees.
A deadly crash.
Hobbiling along she passed the orange cones and the eerie paint. Wobbiling foot to foot she followed the flat road home.
She just wanted to see her old room, sleep and smell her old house maybe touch her moms perfume and see her dads workshop shed that he always used.
Check on them and see how they are.
'I wonder if they could feel my presence.'
Her knee popped awkwardly causing her to tumble forwards. Her jaw making strong contact towards the rough road.
She flinched before striking the harsh floor. It took her a second to register the fact that her nerves were dead, nothing was painful even her splattering onto the floor felt like nothing. If anything it seemed talking felt much more worse than anything since the past few hours.
