Aryan, a young man in his early twenties, worked diligently in the world of engineering and construction. Known for his ability to handle complex paperwork and get tenders approved, he was skilled yet straightforward. One day, his boss summoned him to the office with a special assignment.
"Aryan," his boss began, "I need you to head out to a remote village. There's a jungle there, and I want you to convince the villagers to allow us to clear it for development. We’re planning to build a mall, a school, and other modern facilities that will benefit them immensely."
Aryan, sensing the difficulty of the task, replied cautiously, "But sir, there’s a bit of risk involved. What if the villagers get upset and refuse?"
His boss gave a knowing smile. "Just go there and be diplomatic. Talk to them nicely. Persuade them that this development will improve their lives."
Just then, his boss's dog barked, making Aryan jump. The boss chuckled, “Look, even Simba agrees with the plan.”
Aryan smiled awkwardly, "Your dog is... uh, quite something, sir."
His boss's face turned serious. “Don’t call him a dog. His name is Simba.”
"Right... Simba," Aryan corrected, with a slight nod. "Alright then, I’ll go and bring back a positive answer."
And so, Aryan set out for the village known as Ravenwood, tucked away at the edge of an ancient forest. It was a place isolated from modern civilization, where traditions ran deep, and the forest was considered sacred. His mission was clear, but Aryan was unaware of the mysteries that lay ahead.

A Convincing Offer
Early the next morning, Aryan drove to Ravenwood Village, taking in the beauty of the untouched forest that surrounded it. The morning sun filtered through the trees, casting a golden glow over the winding road. Upon reaching the village, he was greeted by a quiet and cautious group of villagers, mostly young adults, curious about this outsider and his intentions.
With the help of a mysterious friend he’d brought along, named Kabir, Aryan gathered the villagers for a meeting. Standing in front of the small crowd, he addressed them with confidence.
"We are planning to build new facilities here," he began, "like schools, malls, and modern infrastructure that will improve your village’s future. This development will connect you with the outside world and bring conveniences like mobile services, allowing you to communicate and stay informed."
Seeing some hesitant faces, Aryan decided to sweeten the offer. "Each one of you will receive a mobile phone as a token of appreciation if you support this project," he added, hoping this would sway the younger generation.
The promise of modern amenities caught the attention of many young villagers, though a few remained skeptical. One particularly vocal youth, named Rohan, questioned the plan, unsure if it would truly benefit their village. Aryan, with patience and charm, addressed his concerns, promising friendship and progress, until finally, Rohan relented, won over by Aryan’s words.
By the end of the day, the village youth seemed convinced, but Aryan couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something lurking beneath the surface of this quiet village. However, with the day’s work complete, he dismissed the thought.

A Night in the Jungle
Later that night, Aryan, Kabir, and Rohan were returning from the city through the dense jungle that surrounded Ravenwood. The drive was peaceful until their car suddenly came to a halt, the engine sputtering before dying completely.
"Of all places, the car had to break down here?" Aryan muttered in frustration, banging his fist on the steering wheel.
Kabir sighed, "Yeah, right in the middle of this deserted jungle. Perfect timing."
Rohan looked around nervously. "We’ll have to walk back to the village. This jungle isn’t safe at night."
Before they could start walking, Aryan announced, "Wait, I need to… you know, take a quick break." He wandered off a short distance into the trees, far enough to be out of sight.
Suddenly, Aryan let out a loud yell, "Tiger! Run! Run for your lives!" His friends froze, panic flashing in their eyes, before they realized he was only joking. Aryan burst into laughter. "Seriously? You guys got scared by a silly joke about a tiger? Pathetic!"
Kabir rolled his eyes. "Don’t get too cocky. If a real tiger or a wolf shows up, we’ll see how brave you are."
Still chuckling, Aryan wandered a bit further into the trees. Humming to himself, he stood alone in the darkness, not realizing the silence around him was becoming increasingly ominous.
Then he heard it—a low, guttural growl from behind him. The sound was chilling, primal, and dangerously close. His heart skipped a beat, and a shiver ran down his spine. Slowly, he turned around, his breath hitching as his eyes met a sight that froze him in place.
Standing just a few feet away was a massive black wolf, its red eyes glowing with an unnatural intensity. Unlike any other wolf, its gaze held a dark, otherworldly presence. Aryan took a step back, fear clawing at him as the wolf began to stalk closer.
Without thinking, he turned and ran, sprinting as fast as he could through the undergrowth, but the wolf was right behind him, its growls echoing in the night. “Help! Someone help!” he screamed, but his friends, waiting by the car, dismissed his cries as another prank.
Desperate, Aryan spotted a tree and scrambled up, gripping a low-hanging branch. He climbed higher, clinging to the trunk, looking down as the wolf circled below, its red eyes fixed on him with a terrifying focus.
The wolf lunged, snapping its powerful jaws, and managed to sink its teeth into his leg. Pain shot through Aryan as he let out a scream, feeling the wolf’s teeth pierce his skin. He tried to pull his leg away, but the wolf's grip was like iron.
The pain was unbearable, and as he looked at his injured leg, he noticed something strange—his veins began to turn an ominous blend of red and blue, pulsing under his skin. The colors twisted and spread across his body, creating an eerie glow against the darkness. Red veins appeared furious and vivid, while icy blue streaks coursed through his skin, making him look almost otherworldly.
Aryan’s hands trembled as the strange hues overtook him, each vein seeming to pulse with an unnatural power, like fire and ice battling within him. His face grew pale, his breath shaky, as he felt the wolf’s mark consuming him from within.
Hearing his agonized cries, Kabir and Rohan finally realized something was terribly wrong. They rushed into the forest toward his location, only to freeze in horror at the sight before them. Aryan’s face was twisted in agony, his skin awash in pulsating reds and blues, as if he were transforming into something else entirely.
The wolf retreated into the shadows, leaving behind a terrifying mark on Aryan that none of them could understand.
The forest fell silent, save for the faint sound of Aryan’s labored breathing. His friends stared, paralyzed with fear, as they realized that whatever was happening to Aryan was beyond anything they could have imagined.
To be continued.....
Was this a transformation? A curse? Or the awakening of something far darker and more powerful than they could ever imagine?
One thing was certain—Aryan was no longer the man he used to be, and whatever he was becoming, the jungle had claimed him. There was no going back.
