Falling into place

(Jaxon)

I watched as the party came to an end, the laughter and chatter of the group fading into the background.

The bonfire crackled softly, casting warm light on the faces of my friends, but my mind was elsewhere. I kept glancing at Christian, his smile fading as the night came.

He had been quiet for a while, and I could see that something was bothering him. I knew I needed to talk to him alone.

Finally, as the last of the pack members began to drift away, I made my move. I approached Christian, who was leaning against a tree, his gaze lost in the flames.

“Hey,” I said softly, trying to catch his attention. He turned to me, surprise crossing his face.

“Oh, hey, Jaxon.” He replied.

“Can we talk?” I asked, nodding toward the edge of the clearing where we could be away from everyone else.

“Sure.” He pushed off the tree, and we walked a bit away, the sounds of the party fading behind us. I took a deep breath, knowing this was important.

Once we were alone, I looked at him, searching his face.

“I’ve been thinking about us. About you, me, Greyson, and Mason… and what it means.” Christian shifted nervously, running a hand through his hair.

“Jaxon, I—” He started to say.

“Just hear me out,” I interrupted gently.

“I know things have been confusing for you. I just wanted to say that it’s okay to feel scared. I think we could be good for each other.” He glanced away, focusing on the ground.

“I’m not ready for all of this. I don’t even have a wolf yet.” My heart sank a little.

“I know. But that doesn’t mean you can’t explore what we could be together. I promise we’re not rushing you. We just want you to be happy.” He sighed, looking back at me with those big, expressive eyes.

“I appreciate that, but I just don’t want to feel pressured. I need time to figure this out.” He said.

“Time is okay,” I assured him, stepping a little closer.

“Just don’t shut us out completely. We want to be here for you, no matter what. You’re not alone in this.” Christian looked up at me, his expression filled with a mix of gratitude and fear.

“It’s just… everything feels different now. I thought I had a handle on things, but then I started feeling things for you guys. It’s like I don’t even know who I am right now.” He explained.

“Hey,” I said firmly but gently.

“You don’t have to be anyone but you. We care about you, Christian. That’s it. There’s no pressure to be something you’re not. Just be real with us.” He looked down again, biting his lip.

“What if I can’t be what you guys want? What if I can’t be a good mate?” His voice trembled slightly, and I felt my chest tighten at his vulnerability.

“You’re already a good mate just by being you,” I replied, trying to reassure him.

“You don’t have to do anything more than that. Just be yourself, and the rest will come. We’re not looking for perfection; we’re looking for connection.” He took a deep breath, his shoulders relaxing slightly.

“I’ll try. I promise I’ll think about it. But I can’t make any promises right now.” I breathed a sigh of relief.

“That's all I ask,” I said, reaching out and placing a hand on his shoulder.

“You don’t have to rush. We’re here whenever you’re ready. Just know that.” He nodded, his eyes searching mine.

“Thanks, Jaxon. I appreciate you being patient with me.” There was a hint of relief in his voice, and it made me feel hopeful.

“Always. And if you ever need to talk again, just find me. I’ll be around.” Christian offered a small smile, the kind that reached his eyes just a little.

“It feels nice to know I have that support. I guess I’ve been trying to handle everything on my own for too long.” Which wasn't what I wanted him to do.

“Yeah, you don’t have to carry it all alone,” I said, hoping to ease some of the burden I could see weighing him down.

“We’re a pack. That means we lift each other, not leave each other to struggle alone.” Christian leaned back against the tree, his posture relaxing as he considered my words.

“I don't even know how I'm going to handle this situation.” He said, not meeting my gaze.

“What situation?” I asked, wanting to be sure that we were on the same track.

“Um, you know being mated to three guys. Plus you are all so overbearing already! I can't even breathe without having one of you checking to make sure that I'm alright.” I grinned when he said that.

“Hey, we are not that overbearing. If you want to talk about overbearing, look at Dad, for instance. He's thirty-six years old, but everyone still treats him like a baby.” I chuckled while shaking my head.

“I guess you guys inherited it then. Am I free to date before accepting you three as my mate?” I don't know if he was testing me. But my wolf Shilo hated that idea and started to growl, scaring him.

'Hey cut it out.' I said, trying to get him to calm down since I didn't want to scare Christian.

'Cut it out? My mate is thinking with his dick!' Shilo replied, making me scoff.

'I don't see what the problem is. If he wants to date...' Shilo let out a loud curse before I could continue.

'Date? Over my dead body. Oh wait, I can't die.' I didn't reply, just blocked him because he was getting on my nerves.

I looked at Christian who was watching me curiously.

“Look, Christian, I know it’s all new and overwhelming. But dating is out of the question. Not if you want to anger three Alpha kings.” I replied.

Yeah, we got that from father. It wasn't easy for us to tone our temper down, but we were trying for Christian's sake.

If Mason or Greyson heard him say that I doubt they would be able to keep control of their wolves. They are paranoid and don't play when it comes to Christian.

Unlike me, I try my best to be the one to get rid of the tension. Mason doesn't talk a lot, but when it comes to Christian, that's another story, and Greyson? Fuck, I don't even want to talk about what will happen.

So, I decided to keep what he said about dating to myself.

“Fine, I won't date. I know that I wouldn't be able to, it was just a suggestion.” Christian replied, which was better for him.

Since I don't know if he can handle three angry wolves once they take control of our body.
