Chapter 1
'Mum, I'm not getting a job, I've gothomework.' I waved my hand in the air to prove my point.
'Talia Sarah Parker! You are old enoughto earn your own money! Without your father, we have nothing to support ourliving.' Thats it, the guilt card. Mum uses it everytime I don't do as shesays. I hate how she uses dad that way, it was like she doesn't care anymore.
'Yes mum. I'll find a job, I promise.' Ajob... I always thought I would get one when I was a college student, but Iguess starting during my junior year is fine.
'I promise I'll find a better paid jobso you don't have to work during your senior year.' She said with apitying smile on her face. 'I found you a job, by the way. It's as the sales inthe teenage clothing store downtown, I thought you might enjoy it!'
The what store? There is only one storedowntown that sells teenage clothing, it couldn't be. 'Mum! Can I find my ownjob? That one sucks!'
My mum glared at me, 'Mind your languagelady, you will be starting tomorrow. You work there every Tuesday and Thursdayafter school and Saturday.' With that she slammed the door and walkedaway.
I can't believe it, did my mum just findme a job at the hottest shop? I'll be a total embarassment! My body doesn'tlook great, and I'm too pale, like a vampire.
The shop isn't like any other. Guysales don't wear t-shirts, and they show their packs. Girls wear bikinis, flaunting their body around. The job requirement is to be hot and outgoing, which two characteristics I don't pocess. They think it will attract moreteenagers to come.
I dislike that shop with all my passion.Just looking at the people makes me blush, how can they walk around half nudein front of everyone! I won't be able to live with this job.
I walked down the stairs and found mymum sitting on the couch watching television.
'Mum, what about I work at the videogame slash dvd store beside that shop.' Once I finished the sentence, my mum'shead snapped so fast I swear I could hear the bones cracking.
'No, that job pays good. I don't care ifyou hate it, it's just temporary.' She said, and her eye tells me it wasfinal.
Feeling defeated, I dragged myself backto my room, and threw myself to my bed.
Dad, I really wish you were stillhere.

'Talia, wake up!' I groaned and muffledmyself under my pillow. I wasn't in a mood to do anything.
'T, you're mum told me about your job! Ialways knew you could get it, with that body and face.' I dug deeper into mypillow.
'I brought pizza!' No more was needed tobe said, I threw my pillow and blanket away and leaped out of bed. I lookedaround for signs of pizza, but there wasn't any. Then I saw Celeste leaning onmy door with a smug look on her face. She always tricks me into wakingup.
'I can't believe you did that again! We're supposed to be best friends!' I whined.
'Because I am you're best friend, I'mtelling you that you should wake up, and go to work!' She said. 'I'll pick youroutfit!!' Without hesitating, she rushed out of my room and disappeared. Wasn'tshe here to help me choose my outfit? A while later, she came back with a bluesports bag, and once she zipped it open, bikini suits started to pourout. You name any color, and there it was. There are also so many rarepatterns and designs, I couldn't even name them.
'Wow Celeste, how did you get all ofthese?' I asked clearly amazed, there was no way she could afford all ofthis.
'My sister works remember? She uses herspare money to buy bikini suits, strange, I know. But we have to thank her thistime, because I stole all of this from her!' She stated with clear enthusiasm.
