it was a cool, fall evening in a small village called"little hope."
yeah, the name sounds bad, but in all honesty the town was bursting with hope and love! everyone treated everybody kindly except well..
ROSÈ SMITH.
see rosè, or rosie, was often picked on by the other villagers for being unapologetically herself. god, her parents couldn't stand the sight of rosè! saying how bad of a job they've done as parents for raising her, but rosè didn't care. she was fine with being alone, she was often caught in the library; if she wasn't listening to vinyls in her room of course.
she loved the idea of otherworldly things like sprites, sirens, witchcraft, etc. so much so that she read almost every "supernatural" book in the village library!anyways.. where were we?
aahh yes. the cool fall evening.
rosè was listening to her favorite song:
"FREEZE YOUR BRAIN" — Barrett Wilbert Weed and Ryan McCartan) from the musical HEATHERS."you're planning your future, veronica sawyer
you'll go to some college and marry a lawyer
but the sky's gonna hurt when it falls
so you'd better start building some walls
freeze your brain.." rosè sang as she walked down a familiar path to her quaint home. she stepped on fallen leaves and a few sticks, the sun was setting fast, so rosè put some pep in her step and even let out a few dance moves when strangers weren't looking. she had her satchel on and it was carrying a book, but not just any book. it apparently made people travel into,"lost hope."
rosè honestly didn't believe it at first, but the more peers that did as the book asked, the more they would talk in depth of their experiences there. apparently there's a friendly witch named EAO FRANKLIN
at the entrance way and is there to see your way through the world of lost hope.
everyone wanted to try it, but eventually people just started going missing after checking out said book! now deemed cursed, it's only spiked rosè's interest. tonight she will do as THE RULES OF THE LOST & FORGOTTEN say. nobody would miss her if she disappeared anyway so there's no risk, plus, a nice witch seems cool to hangout with!"mama! papa! i'm home!" she exclaimed, wiping her shoes off on the entrance of her home. she kicked off her uggs and ran straight to her room before she was stopped by:
"perfect! just in time for dinner!"
"fuck." rosè mumbles to herself, "i'll be right there!" now hiding the book underneath her duvet, rosè came down to eat with her mama, papa and her younger brother, omar.
"so, rosie! any cute boys at the library recently?" mr. smith asked in his typical stern tone.
"she's gay! are you two blind?" omar laughed.
"no she's not! she wouldn't go to heaven and i just can't have that now can i?" mrs. smith rebottled. she handed rosè a plate of beef pot pie, soon placing down one for the entire table. the family held their hands in prayer before digging into their meal."you didn't answer me rosie." mr. smith peered over his glasses at his daughter. rosè was frozen in place.
"umm.." she started.
"faggot." omar said quietly, but loud enough for the rest of the table to hear.
"will you excuse me?" rosè fake smiled and kicked her brother underneath the table before walking off into the downstairs bathroom.
her once happy face morphed into one of frustration. she gripped the sink and sighed, letting a few tears shed."i can't wait to vanish."
