[St. Freya]
The ringing sound of a bell was carried by the wind into every corner of the school---School had ended. Truly the best time of being in school.
Under the blue skies, students appeared one by one before soon forming a crowd as they walked casually, heading to the gate. Although not everyone went back, some were still within the school area, doing something. Either just hanging out with their friends, doing their homework in advance so they wouldn't be stressed out the moment they realized the clock on their wall had already pointed toward 9 o'clock at night, or just straight up not doing anything. Like our protagonist.
Ray, in his black and white-ish uniform, was taking his time strolling around the halls. Until eventually, he stopped by to enjoy the view of the scenery presented by the well-taken-cared-of garden.
Ray: "It's nice."
He talked to himself.
Naron: Perhaps so.
Or so would a bystander thought if someone was around.
Ray: "What do you think so far in here?"
Naron: The education system is good.
Ray: "No, like... I mean, that's not wrong, but... I'm hoping to hear a more 'subjective' opinion, you know?"
Naron: ...it's peaceful. Something that you should be grateful for. Since not every school, or rather, city in the world could feel such peace without anything to be concerned about other than their minor worries.
Ray: "I see..."
He stood still for a moment before closing his eyes, enjoying a slight brush from the wind.
Naron: What is your plan from now on?
Before a question was thrown to him, causing him to return his sight to the scenery before him.
Ray: "Train myself, obviously."
Naron: Spars like you've done the other day wouldn't be much of use, considering how you haven't even decided on what kind of weapon you will use from here on out. It's useless to continue doing such worthless things when you haven't solved the base of the problem yet.
Ray: "...you're right."
A sigh left his mouth. Then, he brought his hand and opened it, showing some slight bruises scattered on his palm.
Ray: "Just what is the best weapon for me?"
Naturally, such questions had always crossed his mind countless times before. But this time, he really had to start thinking about it properly. As a result, he continued to stand on the same spot for the next few minutes, pondering about the choices he had right now.
???: "Hm? Ray? What're you doing here?"
Until a certain woman's voice reached his ears, breaking his line of thoughts. Turning his head to the side, he found a petite girl standing just a few steps away, holding what appeared to be a stack of papers.
Ray: "Oh, it's you, Principal Theresa. Well, nothing much. Just thinking."
Theresa: "Is that so?"
He nodded lightly.
Now, Theresa obviously isn't a mind reader. But, as an adult with countless experiences dealing with people, she knew instantly that a certain problem was stuck in the boy's mind. As such, she took it as her task to, at the very least, help him find his way out of the stalemate.
Theresa: "You know, Ray."
Ray: "Yes?"
The boy glanced at her.
