Chapter 3: Getting Used to The New World

Max has had dreams before, most of them were weird but this one was different. There he stood on a land unfamiliar to him, a war raging on around him, hundreds of people fighting, blood splattered the ground people having limbs cut off but for it to just to heal immediately and they run off continuing to fight.

The world shook, as Max looked to find the source he looked up, he sees two people in the sky their fighting far more brutal than both army's down on the ground combined, One was a female that had pitch black armor there was a strange symbol on her back it was a snake that had hundreds of different of scales the colors and patterns all different on its skin somehow he knew that each of these scales where of a snake that had fallen in battle to it, the scales were trophy's, her flowing black hair wiped around as she fought, the other was a guy in white armor with the symbol of The Guide a monarch butterfly with hundreds of roads signifying the journeys that have and have yet to be taken on the back of it he had short black hair that spiked up as he fought, as they clash the very fabric of reality shook at their power. Each hit was filled with history and anger, these people knew each other, and hated each other's existence.

Then they stopped, the whole war stopped, every single being in that war was frozen like time had stopped then they all looked at him and collectively they all said "The steps have already been taken. Be prepared."

Max Wakes up with a shock looking around the room that had been given to him by the people at Devil May Cry "What the heck kind of dream was that" It's been two days since Dante left for his mission and Max has been trying to get used to this new world, he found himself in. Trish and Lady have been helping him learn what he needs to know about this world. First devils exist and Trish, Lady, and Dante are devil hunters and the mission that Dante went on is a hunt. Second, Trish is a devil and Dante is half. Lastly, magic exists and is something Trish and Dante use on the regular. As Max gets up he makes his way to a small shrine he made to The Guide, Max lights a candle and closes his eyes for a quick prayer "why do you do that" Trish asks leaning on the doorway looking at Max "The Guide is the one that brought me from my boring life of my old planet, allowing me to have a new chance of being someone important this is a small way to say thank you" Max states as he finished his prayer "still its weird" Trish says "and that is your own opinion that your aloud to have but please keep it to yourself and let me have my own" Max says "fine breakfast is almost ready get dressed well continue your training" Trish says as she leaves. In the days that Dante had been gone Trish decided to teach Max contract magic so he could gain an aspect of magic while he waits.

Max gets dressed in a gray sweatshirt with a bumblebee picture on it and blue jean with black slip on shoes, Max walks out to the entrance area of the shop known as Devil May Cry, "morning Morrison" Max says, J.D. Morrison is the owner of Devil May Cry and is an older African American man with a full beard and mustache that has been kept clean it has turned white through time he wears a suit that consist of gray dress pants, black dress shoes combined with a white shirt, a red vest, and a black outer coat, along with a black fedora "morning kid how did you sleep" Morrison said looking up from the news paper he was reding "pretty good had a weird dream" Max states as he walks by into the kitchen siting at the table. "Morning Lady" Max says "morning Max" says Lady as she finishes making breakfast and hands Max his plate "thanks I was wondering if you could teach me the basics of cooking" Max asks "Oh sure id be glad to teach you" Lady says a bit surprised at the question "finish fast training is in 10 minutes" Trish shouts from the entrance. After finishing his breakfast, he heads out the front door and finds Trish in a clearing "aright so far you have a good grasp of contract magic lets try lightning magic well start by trying to get a small spark to appear, but it might be hard for you because your human" Trish says showing her ability for lightning magic "ok ill try my best" Max says. They spend the next couple of hours trying to get a spark to appear but with no luck "we'll stop here and pick back up tomorrow go relax" Trish says and leaves. Max returns to his room frustrated at his inability to make the spark appear.

Max walks over to the shrine he made for The Guide and prays "Guide please answer my call" Max says in a mumble. Suddenly the room fades away to a black void and The Guide stands in front of Max "you called for me Max" The Guide states, "I've been having trouble with magic because of me being a human I'm not sure ill be able to use any magic at all" Max says confiding into The Guide

"I as a matter of fact was waiting to speak to you again for a power, I forgot to give you" The Guide says summoning a blue orb "this power is a very special transformation ability it allows you to take on the being that you would be if you were that species. Let's say you were a half devil your appearance would change, and your strength would grow. You can still revert to base form but this only works for certain species like a devil or those similar they have to have a human like appearance they can't be animals or the such or are so different from a humans appearance that they don't look it at all that half devil Dante counts this powers name is Alter Organisms training in the forms will not improve your stats you must do it in base form. I will also give you the ability to pull up a status window and see your current stats and what forms you have as well as the requirements to improve it the form" as The Guide finishes explaining the ability it enters Max's chest. Max feels the power run throughout his body "thank you this might be what I needed" Max says hope in his eyes "there is no need to thank me as I said you were supposed to have this since the beginning of your journey, please call upon me to talk any time" The Guide says as Max's room comes back into focus.

"Let's try this out" Max activates Alter Organisms, and his hair turns white growing longer and putting it self up into a ponytail, his eyes turning ruby red and his gaze gains a focus that his original didn't, his clothes changed as well going from his gray hoodie and jeans with black shoes to a long white trench coat that go's to his ankles, a black sweatshirt that had its hood going over the trench coats collar and black fingerless gloves, black jeans with a utility belt meant for holding munitions and ammo, and black combat boots. Looking in the mirror Max smiles "I like this look I think ill call this form Devil Drive."

Smirking Max returns to his human form and pulls up his stats.

After looking at his stats he walks out of his room to find Trish "Trish I got something to show you" Max yells out finding her "come on we got to go to the training ground" Max leads Trish to the ground "what is this about" Trish asks in complete confusion "this" Max says as he activates Alter Organisms and turns into Devil Drive "What the, what is this" Trish yell in surprise. Max then proceeds the interaction he just had with The Guide and explains Alter Organisms. "This could be really helpful for learning magic, let's try to summon the lightning spark while you're in this form" Trish says hopeful. 7 minutes later Max was able to summon a small spark. Trish said that it was a better start than last time. Suddenly Max's Devil Drive form drops from exhaustion "looks like Alter Organisms is tied to my stamina I'll have to work on that" Max sates breathing heavily "still you did good today go get some rest and we'll continue tomorrow" Trish says patting Max's head as she heads inside. Smiling Max heads inside exhausted from training Max goes straight to bed and knocks out as soon as his head hit the pillow.
