A Nation's Hope
PROLOGUE
Natlan, A Nation of teyvat known for its constant cycle of war. At least to those who lived outside of Natlan. But to those who lived in the mighty nation of Natlan, loved their home, completely understanding and embracing the cycle, understanding that in order for their nation to continue to exist they needed to constantly train and fight to be able to protect their home from the Abyss. The Abyss threatened to consume the nation and has been plotting to wage war on teyvat and its gods for decades. The Pyro Archon and 6 warriors successfully fought off the abyss and pushed it back but now it threatens to come back and consume the nation. The one thing other than its Archon protecting it was The Sacred Flame, as long as it burned, the warriors who had an Ancient Name were able to be resurrected through the Ode To Resurrection. In order to decide who was able to fight against the Abyss the Pyro Archon would hold a tournament with the 6 main tribes of Natlan and the strongest of those warriors would become a part of the night watch allowing them to defend their homeland. The main six tribes were some of the strongest groups in natlan, having access to beings known as the Wyob, these being essentially provided their wisdom to the tribe, giving out Ancient names to continue the legacy of those warriors. While fending off the abyss from within the Night Kingdom.
The system was established, but there was one small tribe, headed by a leader known as Xiuhtecutli. Xiuhtecutli was a master of many tricks, wielding many odd magic and voodoo sorceries, all of which were performed through Sanguine arts. Years ago he had successfully linked his soul to a massive red draconic like Saurian, allowing him to wield this dragon's fire and take on some of its aspects. He was decently tall, standing around 6'1ish. His skin was surprisingly pale, but had a small tan to it. The outer edge of his irises were orange while the center was a light yellow. His hair was light blond, being much shorter than expected, spiking upwards. His outfit left much of his chest exposed, his tribal tattoos littering his skin, many dots and fanged necklaces. His legs were covered in white and black tribal pants patterned with some orange and red feathers that draped off the waistline.
His clan had long worshiped the Pyro Sovereign, the massive fiery dragon that dwelt underneath a massive Volcano. Xiuhtecutli had many devoted followers, but the ones who stood out the most was a family. One mother, one father and two sons. This family was extremely devoted and it was almost impossible for him not to notice. So upon the birth of their second son he appeared offering a blessing of strength to the child, who would be named Tlanextli. However eight years after his birth disaster would strike. Xiuhtecutli's brother, a vile and disgusting man who had forsaken his warrior name, Maliketh. He'd forsake his brother and their teachings. In a rage full and spiteful massacre, he killed Tlanextli's mother and quickly after killed his father. He tried to kill Tlanextli but the boy was able to hide, escaping his doomed fate. Soon enough Malekith went on a killing spree, using his draconic abilities to his advantage. Despite that perceived advantage, Xiuhtecutli was able to defend nearly everyone, causing his weaker brother to flee Natlan swearing that one day, he'd come back. On the other hand Xiuhtecutli went and checked on each and every member of his tribe. The final house he'd check was the home where Tlanextli's family resided. He entered the home seeing the bodies of both the boy's parents, his mother barely clinging to life reached out for Xiuhtecutli. Though she knew he couldn't heal her, she had one wish. Xiuhtecutli came to her asking
" What is it Senora?"
Her voice, low and quiet, spoke, simply saying "Tlanextli... he has potential... please, train him... he's alive" she paused feeling her life force fading but she forced herself to live momentarily coughing up blood, "he has the potential to save... our...home"With that she finally let go, her vibrant red eyes fading to a dull gray. Laying her to rest. Xiuhtecutli began looking around the room, finding a horrified Tlanextli sitting in a hidden cabinet in the kitchen. Where the bloody and beaten body of his father lay. Xiuhtecutli calmly walked over, opening the hidden spot and calmly picking up the boy, telling him "Shhh, it's okay". His voice, though soothing, couldn't get through to the boy. Tlanextli's brother wasn't anywhere to be found, with only one note from him being left behind, claiming that "The blessing shall save you from your suffering". Tlanextli was now completely and utterly alone, but he didn't allow this to break him. In fact it changed him. Day after day Xiuhtecutli had him train his absolute hardest, pushing his limits to as far as he could, breaking through his barriers for seven long years.
Xiuhtecutli saw the potential in Tlanextli his mother spoke about, maybe, just maybe, this boy was the solution to the nation's problems. Thus giving him the idea to start a plan that could temporarily buy his home more time.
