"Welcome to the Annual Allied Medicine Celebration! A yearly appreciation for the workers in medical field. Thank you everyone for coming here tonight as we celebrate! I know that everyone is looking forward for what this event has to offer. Of course, we have games, photo-booth, a delicious buffet, mentioning of credentials, and of course, a dance party after the main event! Is everyone ready?!"
Luckily, the emcee just started when I have just arrived at my seat. Everyone was hyped up as they expressed themselves with a loud applause and cheers. This is my first annual party with them, and I prepared my whole life for this now that I became successful with my dream work. Well, it isn't a dream anymore.
"You look hot in that dress, Ella!" said Georgia, my nurse friend, and the best girl in the ward.
"Is this okay, though?" I ask and she chuckled. "I mean, it's not too overdressed, right? Or am I just nervous because this is my first event?"
"No! Of course, not! Everybody can dress the way they want especially for this party! I was even worried that you came in here late. Where were you?" her expression never fails to amaze me, she does not lie. And she is so true.
"Just a bit of trouble at my shop. But it's okay now. I just had to deal with it shortly."
After that respond, I told her to don't mind it. At least, I arrived at the right timing. The emcee proudly announces the people who deserves a lot of credentials and appreciation. Mostly, they are the ones who were in the field for a long a time and has been promoted to a higher position. Good for them, and I aspire to be one of them. Well, some day. I know a lot of people in this event. Some of them were my classmates back then in college when I was still studying to earn a bachelor's degree title. They recognized me as well, and we will definitely catch up later on.
"I need to go to the restroom. Excuse me for a while." I told Georgia. I carefully stood up as I hold my purse.
I immediately went to the restroom but then I bumped into a child who's drink spilled over the hem of my dress. FUCK.
"Oh my God!" I exclaimed, but I managed to stay calm. "Are you alright, child?" he was about to tear up. Shit. "Hey, don't f-, don't cry!" he dare to spill his drink on me and has the audacity to cry. Gosh. Kids nowadays are too sensitive. "Who are you with?" he still continues to cry. I was cursing at the back of mind.
"I-I'm....S-so..So..r-rry!!"
"Oh no, it's okay." even though it's not. "Uhm... come he-'
"Philip!" he stopped crying when a familiar voice called his name.
"DADDY!" lifting my head up, I gaze upon him as the kid ran into him. "What happened to you? Why are you crying? Where's mom? Hmm?" I actually do not know what to react. Why is he here? Who is that child?
"I spilled my drink on someone! Help me, Dad!' the kid then pointed at me, where I was still stunned.
I immediately turned around when our eyes locked in for a split second. I know that he recognizes me. And we both know how fucked up this is.
"Estella?"
