**Yarelis POV**

Today was the first day of school for Jackie and me. I'd been up since 3 AM, buzzing with excitement and a little nervous energy. Going to bed early last night meant I had time to cozy up my room and take a long shower. The best part about living in a cabin is the peace and quiet—no noise distractions. Unfortunately, that meant Jackie was stuck with the chaos back at the house.

After I got ready, I spritzed some perfume on before heading to the kitchen. Everyone was rushing around, and I didn't see Jackie. She was probably still getting ready.

"Good morning, Yari," Katherine said with a smile, then promptly shouted at one of the boys for acting a fool early in the morning. "You want an apple or something? The boys are about to leave."

"No, thanks." I smiled back, still waiting for Jackie.

When she finally came down, we both headed to the porch while the boys piled into the car. Cole caught sight of us and gave a slight smile.

"Come on, Howard and Jersey!" he called, hopping into the driver's seat.

Alex swung open the door, letting us in. I squeezed into the back row with Isaac and Lee, careful not to flash anyone as I settled in, while Jackie took the middle seat with Alex and Nathan. I started to feel a little more comfortable during the ride as we sang along to songs. Cole's serious lecture when we arrived at the school snapped me back to reality.

"We got a full car today. Isaac, no offering rides for random cheerleaders," he said while we all spilled out of the car. "We leave at 3:30, sharp!"

I gave Jackie a light tap on the shoulder as we got out. "Come on, apple-jack. We're gonna be okay." I flashed her a reassuring smile.

Standing by the trunk with Cole, I took in the sight of the school. It looked like your typical high school—nothing fancy, a contrast to my private school back home.

"What do you think, princess?" Cole asked, bumping my shoulder lightly.

"It's a school," I shrugged, trying to suppress my underwhelmed response.
