A man is passionately writing a letter at his house. Despite the stormy weather and windy atmosphere outside, he is diligently writing a letter, a letter that could symbolize his life in the way he writes it.
With the aid of the light from the lamp, the man is slowly scribbling something on the paper.
In the letter, it says:
"Dear Allaine, I will go and stop your wedding tomorrow. I know you love him, but he doesn't love you and know you like I do.
I know that you like to sing, that's why every time I have time, I always listen to your gracious voice.
Our first date, I noticed that you are allergic to flowers, that's why on the succeeding dates, I always bring artificial flowers......"
The man paused, stood up, and faced the window. He sighed, the confusion of whether to continue writing his letter evident on his emotionless face.
His eyes, perhaps due to sleepless nights, were puffy, and his lips were violet from the cold wind.
He unbuttoned his shirt and sat on the wobbly chair. He lay down on the chair, covered his face with a newspaper, and sighed.
A few minutes later, two good-looking men entered. Ron and Henley.
Ron began to speak, "How lowly did the great logician fall to a woman," he said, mocking his teacher.
"Hey, shut up Ron," said Henley.
"What's the matter, sensei?" asked Henley.
The man began to speak, "I love this woman, she's my first love, but she's getting married tomorrow. What... should... I do?"
Ron spoke up: "Why don't you go to the wedding and intervene, tell her your true feelings, and who knows what might happen afterwards?"
"But that's...", said the man, but Henley interrupted: "Before you take any action, sensei, ask yourself what's the intention behind doing this. Is it beneficial to both of you, or only to you?
Can you afford to destroy and intercept a wedding for it, sensei? Are you doing these things with a clear mind? Or are you acting in the heat of emotion?"
"I don't know what to do really... I'm confused."
"Like I said, just go and steal your woman back," exclaimed Ron.
Henley intercepted: "Are you doing it for both of you? Or only for yourself? Think, sensei," exclaimed Henley.
"If I were you, sensei, I would enter the church tomorrow morning, hold the bride and carry her off - how dramatic and villainous a scene that would be. Don't you think, Hen~ley?" said Ron.
"Stay away from me, ya psychopath. Sensei, think well, both for your sake and hers, before you do anything. And if you act, do so without regret.
Remember, regrets are things that cannot be changed, and eventually, things we must accept, whether we like it or not," said Henley.
"Ahhhhh, get out of my room," said the man. "You just made me even more confused!"
He pushed the two out the door and slammed it shut. As he recalled what Henley had said, he began to shiver, his eyes becoming bleak, sweat rolling down his face.
He stared out at the stormy weather. Am I doing the right thing? he thought. Am I being selfish? No, I'm not selfish, I just love her.
His mind argued back. Fool, isn't that something you always say to justify your irrational actions, disguising them as love? Pathetic.
He considered his options, his heart wavering. Should I just write another letter?
Then, steeling himself, he decided, I will continue writing this letter until it's done, no matter how foolish it is.
Well, you're truly a fool, aren't you? his mind exclaimed hysterically.
A few minutes passed before he collected himself. He washed his face in the bathroom and returned to the desk to continue the letter.
"I always bring artificial flowers when I fetch you for our dates. I also know that when you're sad, you cry alone at night because you don't want to burden others.
I know you always touch your hair when you're uncomfortable... with something or someone.
So... I... beg... of... you, when you see this letter, run away from the wedding and go under the large mango tree at the park, the place that holds our memories of being together, being love doves..."
Truly Yours: Renzel
The letter was finished, and with that, his pen ran out of ink. The man put it in an envelope, smearing it with his blood as a signature, and using the candle lamp as a sealer for the envelope.
At that moment, the weather started to clear up. He glanced outside. How beautiful the weather is, just like my beautiful Allaine.
His mind, however, respond sarcastically, Oh, shut up, you crazy lovesick bastard.
The rainbow reflecting the colors of the universe was evident in the clear, azure sky. He admired it for a moment, thinking, The sky is as blue as her calming smile.
But again, his mind interrupted. Here we go again with this crazy fantasizing. Shut up. We don't need her, alright?
But I love her. I want to be with her, his heart responded.
Geez... she's even getting married, yet you can't understand that she doesn't want you anymore. That's why she's marrying someone else, his mind mocked.
A few minutes later, the mailman came, and the man handed him the envelope. As the mailman looked at him, he saw the man smiling, the warmest smile a human could give.
The mailman smiled back, his soul warmed like a parent seeing their newborn child.
The mailman hurried into his car, driving to deliver the mail. When the man re-entered the house, Ron and Henley were waiting for him.
Ron said, "Did you hit your head or something, sensei? It's the first time I've seen you smile like that, and it kinda creeps me out."
The man and Henley exchanged smiles.
On the day of the wedding, the letter was delivered to the bride. The letter was covered with a golden ribbon and sprinkled with rose petals.
As the bride opened the letter, it read:
"Congratulations to the newlywed couple. I apologize for not being there, but from the bottom of my heart, I'm happy for both of you and look forward to your future."
Yours truly, Renzel
After reading the letter, the couple looked at each other and smiled.
Flashback
The day before, when the man had taken the letter to be delivered, he had switched it with something else he had written earlier.
He placed the original letter in a chest labeled "Memories."
Back to the present
"Really, sensei?" Ron exclaimed. "You've written so deeply, and you love this woman, yet you're letting her go. Does that mean the letter you wrote was useless? Come on, sensei, really?"
He sipped his tea. Damn... this bastard, he finally chose to accept and let go. Why couldn't he do that earlier?
Henley smiled at him. After taking a sip, they both smiled at their teacher. Ron, however, still wanted to strangle him out of frustration.
With a confidence, the man stood up, walk slowly, that he's walking exudes a ominous aura, Ron and Henley feeling cold and goosebumps that sends a chill to their body, that they shiver for an instant.
As the man opens the chest of memories, he grabs the revolver.
As soon as Ron see that spectacle. WHAT THE FUCK YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!!!???, shouted by Ron.
Se... Sen... sei, don't tell me.... please don't do it, nervously exclaimed by Henley.
As the man looks at them, he smiled to both of them and pulled the trigger.
His blood, splattered to the chest of memories as it oozes, and he's blood covers the Majestic view by the windows, as it drips on the window.
The eye of both Ron and Henley widens up, like they've just seen a ghost, aughs, ughhh, woak, my intestine it's coming out, whispered by Henley as he begins to throw up his bile and soon got over he's clothes being covered by it.
As the seen changes from his lifeless body into, the beautiful scenery by the window, the bluish azure sky, the fluffy clouds, the warm sun and the singing nightingales by the sturdy tree, covered by the red-darkish blood of the man by the window, soon the color of those idyllic scenery turns colorless.
"Not everything you see is what it is, sometimes it's just a preconceptions"
