As Robin lay unconscious, Rosita clung to him, her heart racing with fear and sorrow. Leah knelt beside her, gently brushing Rosita's hair away from her tear-streaked face. “He’ll be okay,” Leah whispered, though doubt gnawed at her insides. “We just need to get him to safety.”

Leo turned to the others, urgency in his voice. “We need to move, now! The bison could be nearby. We can’t stay here.” The group quickly assessed the area, scanning the shadows of the trees that loomed like sentinels around them.

Rosita felt the ground shift beneath them, reminding her of their terrifying encounter with the quicksand. “We need to help him! Please!” She was desperate, her voice cracking with emotion. Leah nodded, taking charge.

“Help me lift him,” Leah instructed, as the others carefully maneuvered around Robin. With a collective effort, they managed to get him onto a makeshift stretcher made from sturdy branches and their backpacks.

As they started moving, Rosita refused to leave her brother’s side, whispering comforting words into his ear. “Please wake up, Robin. I can’t do this without you.” The path ahead was unclear, the dense trees blocking any hint of the sun. Every rustle in the underbrush sent shivers down her spine.

Suddenly, a low growl echoed through the forest, chilling them to the bone. Leo halted the group. “Did you hear that?” His eyes widened as he scanned the surroundings. The sound of hooves against the forest floor was unmistakable, and panic set in.

Rosita’s heart raced as the bison’s figure emerged through the thicket, its massive silhouette growing larger with each passing moment. It charged toward them, fueled by rage and a sense of betrayal.

“Run!” Leo shouted, urging the group to move faster. They darted through the trees, adrenaline pumping as they fled from the impending danger. Rosita felt a surge of determination. “We have to get to the river!” she yelled, recalling the safe haven that lay beyond the dense thickets.

As they approached a clearing, Rosita spotted the glimmer of water in the distance. “There!” she pointed, her voice filled with hope. But just as they neared the riverbank, the bison charged again, its snort sending vibrations through the ground.

Leo quickly devised a plan. “We’ll create a distraction! Leah, take Rosita and Robin to the water. The rest of us will hold it off.” The group nodded, knowing the risk they were taking.

Leah grasped Rosita’s hand tightly, leading her and Robin toward the river. Rosita looked back, seeing her friends gather stones and sticks, ready to face the beast. Her heart sank. “Please be safe,” she whispered, her eyes shimmering with tears.
