It was morning in Pop Village, and as always, the residents would wake up singing and dancing at 8 AM! But today was different; it was snowing, so everyone stayed inside to sing or hug at home. However, Poppy decided to run to Branch's bunker and sing there. Last year, she and Branch had gone up in a hot air balloon to watch all the troll villages and share holiday inventions. This year, Poppy and Branch wanted to celebrate together as one big family, with both Poppy's and Branch's families coming together.
Poppy knocked on Branch's bunker. "Branch! Branch!" she shouted at the door, impatiently waiting for her boyfriend to answer.
"I'm coming! Just wait! I'm grabbing my coffee!" he replied from inside.
Finally, he opened the door. "Look who's up early! What's up?"
"WHAT'S UP?! DON'T YOU REMEMBER TOMORROW'S CHRISTMAS?! OUR WHOLE FAMILY IS GOING TO BE TOGETHER!" Poppy said, sounding exasperated.
"Whoa, whoa! I didn't forget, Popifer. I remember! My brothers are coming, and your sister and father too. Everything is settled already, so don't worry," Branch said with a wink.
"I know that, but I forgot to invite my grandma. She's very strict, and I'm scared she will be mad that I invited her last!" Poppy said, worry etched on her face as she pulled her hair in frustration.
"Hey now! Calm down, I'm sure she wouldn't be that mad. She'll be honest, okay?" Branch replied while sipping his coffee.
"CALM DOWN?! BRANCH, YOU'VE NEVER MET HER—SHE'S MEAN!" Poppy exclaimed, sitting on the floor and rolling in the snow, anxious.
"Poppy, just relax. My grandma was like that too."
"Your grandma was MEAN?!" Poppy stood up from the snow, surprised.
"Not the one who got eaten by a bear, my other one," Branch said, feeling upset because he didn't like talking about his deceased grandma.
"Wait, you had two grandmas?!" Poppy exclaimed, pulling Branch's shirt in shock.
"Yep, she's still alive, and... John Dory is inviting her..." Branch replied, feeling a bit upset that his very mean grandma was coming to the family gathering.
"Well, aren't you happy? You get to see your grandma!" Poppy smiled.
Branch sighed, knowing he could never hide anything from Poppy; he understood her better than his own family.
"No," he said sadly.
"Wait why? explain please!" Poppy let go of his shirt.
"Why not? She's family," Poppy responded, looking surprised.
"Because she hates me. She blames me for Grandma Rosie Puff's passing," Branch said anxiously.
"Branch, that was not your fault, it was that chef begins fault, remember that, and your grandma needs to understand it was not your fault."
"But it was! did you not hear?! i was the one singing! i was the one to cause grandma to die!" Branch tried not to cry.
"Oh branch calm down, it wasn't your fault." Poppy hugs branch.
"Better now?"
"yes." Branch calms down and hugs poppy back.
