PROLOGUE
(3rd Person POV)
HAYDEN WALKED DOWN THE HALLWAY, lost in thought. He thought about the past, what mistakes he had made. He thought about himself, other people, and the world around him. He approached his dorm room, turned the handle, and opened the door.
"Hayden!" a voice said. "Where have you been? I been looking for you all over!" Jacob walked over to the desk. "Been studying in the library all day." he replied. "How's your day going, Ben?"
"Stressful" the almost-king said. "I keep thinking about the coronation and the new kids and ugh-" Hayden cut him off "It's all going to be okay, Aurodon is in good hands." He said.
Wait, what new kids?" He asked. "I've decided that the kids on the Isle deserve a second chance at life, here in Aurodon." Ben replied.
Okay seems good." Hayden said, shrugging his shoulders.
"Really you don't care?"
"Nope"
"Most people are shocked and afraid when I tell them that."
"I'm a chill person Ben, I don't care." Hayden told the prince. "As long as they're not like him.." He started looking out the window, getting lost in thought, somewhere in Wonderland. "Hay," Ben put his hand on Hayden's shoulder. "You wanna talk?" Ben looked at his best friend, and Hayden looked back.
"I just- I just don't feel like I belong in Aurodon, Ben. I mean, just look at me. I'm wearing mostly black." Hayden said, signaling at his black outfit and dark blue ripped jeans. "I'm a prince, Ben. Everyone excepts me to be hot and attractive to all the girls and become like- like a player b-but I don't want to be that. I'm not that."
"Hayden." Ben replied full of empathy. "You do belong here. And, I don't think your outfit looks weird, it makes you hot." He said trying to make a point. "Never say that again, ever." Hayden glared at Ben. "Look Hay. I just want you to feel welcome and happy, so call me if you need help-" Hayden started to groan "Hayden I'm trying to help you, you don't have to pretend to be strong, you can ask for help, okay?" He looked at Hayden for approval. "Okay." Ben started to the door. "Well, I have to tell my mom and dad about the new kids, see if they agree." Hayden scoffed. "Have fun with that." "Yeah I will."
