The night was silent only the sounds of familles greeting their loved ones and cars trailing along the road can be heard. Eleanors heels clicked down the cold pavement as the leaves fell to her feet marking the start of fall. She let out a sigh of relief as she neared the familiar street, her mom should be at home. Eleanor knocked on the brown wood door awaiting a response before she can knock a second time the door swang open. the familiar smell of cinnamon hit her nose, "You're back!" her mother beamed in excitement. "I thought you wouldn't be back till November?" she hesitated "Mrs. Cowell decided to let me off sooner than expected." Eleanor explained to her confused mother. "Well let me not keep you waiting longer come in darling." she grinned. Eleanor walked in setting her luggage down in the foyer. After all these years her home had not changed a single bit, the chipped paint on the walls and the scratches on the doors marking the years. "Are you hungry" her mother peaked out of the kitchen taking her out of her thoughts. Before she could respond her stomach growled in hunger "I'll take that as a yes." her mother grinned walking back into the kitchen. Eleanor followed along into the kitchen the smell of thyme and potatoes hitting her nose.

"So how has life in the city been?" her mother turned to face her "Well you know it's been busy ofcourse, so lots of writing to do." she sighed frustrated "Although Mr. Yveson plans on giving me a promotion soon but don't tell anyone i told you this." she snickered now helping her mom set the table for dinner.

her mother grinned "Well that's great and all....but." she took a long pause "have you found a boyfriend yet?" she questioned. "Ofcourse not you know how busy its been i haven't had time to go searching for love besides everyone already has a partner it's hard to find a boyfriend in these times" she explained whispering the last part "Don't you think it's time to start focusing on other things, im worried with how much you overwork yourself." her mother frowned setting down the warm bowls of fresh soup. "Besides look at your brother he was already married at your age." she added in a serious tone. Eleanor chocked on her food "Thats an unfair comparison he had already known Ada since childhood." Eleanor scowled "Im just joking darling...perhaps i can set you up with the neighbors son he makes a lot and is quite charming." her mother chuckled

"Mom....Absolutely not." she gave a blank response "Fine, Fine just promise me you will be married before 23." her mother said in a worried tone holding out her pinky "I can't keep any promises." Eleanor chuckled nervously

Eleanor stared out the open window of her childhood bedroom lost in thought. humming the lyrics to her favorite song, she was pulled out of her thoughts by two hooded men arguing outside her window. "I've already told you if you fail to pay your debts on-time i wont be afraid to send people after you." one of the hooded man cautioned the other man "I promise i will get the money to you just give me a bit more time." the other man whispered in a worry "I will give you only 3 more weeks if you don't have it on time..." he hissed and with that he left in a hurry. before Eleanor could close her curtains to not be caught overhearing the other hooded man turned staring directly at her revealing his sharp grey eyes. after what felt like forever the man went on his way. "That was strange." she whispered confused closing the curtains
