David

Jules and Valentine were in my room, facing me, listening quite intently on my conversation with Amariah. When Amariah agreed to meet me tomorrow night, Jules' eyes widened in surprise and Valentine showed a little frown, but I think it was one of approval. I truly was surprised that she said yes. I really wanted to show her that I strongly repented from all of the cruel things I did to her. At the same time though, I couldn't shake the feeling that she was planning to do something there, something to get back at me. I wouldn't blame her anyway.

When I pressed the "end" button on my cell phone, Valentine started chanting, "David's got a date! David's got a date!" while bouncing on my bed. "Shut up! It isn't a date!" I scolded him. But Valentine didn't relent, "David likes a girl! David likes a girl!" When he said that, I kind of paused for a second. I suddenly thought about Amariah's features- her long, brown hair, her eyes, blue and really sharp, her near immaculate skin. She really was gorgeous.

Jules then snapped at Valentine, "Why are you acting like a 5 year old?! Why do you ALWAYS have the maturity of a toddler?" I thought that was kind of harsh, but Valentine IS kind of eccentric.

Valentine's jumping ceased, and he just crawled to one of my pillows and slumped on it. He suddenly put on a depressed look on his face. "Well...why do you?" Jules asked him again.

"Umm, maybe we should leave him there for now." I told him.

"Yeah, I think that's best." He agreed. "So, if this isn't a date, then what is it?"

"It's, it's, you know... It's a formal apology. Because I didn't really get a chance to give her one that day she threw coffee in my face."

"Wait, yes you did! You told her you were sorry after the uh *hehe*, coffee incident."

"That wasn't funny! That stuff really burned."

"No, it was funny. Just not from your perspective. But, you couldn't see very well from the coffee in your eyes anyway."

I'm get really impatient sometimes when Jules is around. He's always sarcastic and can get pretty inconsiderate of other people's feelings. He's one of my closer friends, but he can really get under my skin. So I told him, "You know what Jules? You can be a real big jerk sometimes."

"Aww, little Davida's getting angry." Jules teased.

Then, out of nowhere, Valentine said, "I like that name."

"...What?" Jules inquired.

Valentine continued, still slumped on a pillow. "The name, Davida. It's derivative of David's name and is in feminine form, to show contempt towards David and to demean him. The name David is of Hebrew origin and means "beloved". Jules, you should not show contempt towards David. And David, please be patient with Jules and his cruel antics. You should both serve each other, and love each other, as you are both beloved." Valentine can be a bit, umm... Bipolar, isn't it?

"Okay, Mr. Preacher." Jules said. "But what about when you teased Beloved about his not date with Amariah?"

"...Shame..." Valentine told us, his face still buried in my pillow.

"So..." I said to Jules. "Wanna come with me to see Amariah again, or should I..."

"Take Valentine!" Valentine blurted out enthusiastically, with his head darting up. See what I mean with the bipolarity?

"OK, Valentine. I guess you can come with. Don't you want to go too, Jules?"

"Nah." He replied. "It'd be too weird with two people coming along. And uwith Valentine's weirdness, it's already too much as it is." Valentine looked down on his pillow with a gloomy expression now on his face.

I looked to Jules, then to Valentine, then to Jules again. Then I asked them, "Remind me again why you two are my friends?"

"Because we're awesome?" Jules suggested.

"Is it 'cause we're very contrasted and that brings you harmony?" Valentine said.

They made me laugh, "A bit of both?" Maybe humor plays a part, too?
