Chapter 7: A Desperate Search

Fin's POV

I was in the school field with Noel, taking a break and chatting, when we suddenly heard screams echoing from the building. We both looked up, confused, as students began flooding out of the hallways, panic in their eyes.

"What's going on?" Noel muttered, his gaze darting from one terrified face to another. Then we saw it-a horrifying sight that froze us in place. A student, someone we recognized, was stumbling out of the building, covered in blood, his eyes blank and hungry. He lunged at another student, tearing into flesh like he'd lost his mind.

My stomach twisted in fear, and my body tensed. More of these... monsters began spilling out, their mouths smeared with blood, attacking anyone in sight. The smell of fear filled the air as the crowd around us scattered, running in every direction.

As I stood there, paralyzed, an image flashed in my mind-Nica. I knew she was somewhere inside, and I couldn't shake the fear that something had happened to her. I had to find her. I couldn't let anything happen to her. Not now.

"Noel, I have to go back in there!" I shouted over the noise, my voice barely steady.

"You're insane!" Noel yelled, looking at me as if I'd lost my mind. But he saw the determination in my eyes and nodded, following as I bolted toward the building.

Fear gripped me as I weaved through the crowd, my heart pounding with worry for Nica. I didn't even understand why, but I knew I couldn't let her face this alone. As I got closer to the entrance, I caught a glimpse of her standing near the cafeteria doors, looking around in confusion, fear in her eyes as the chaos swirled around her.

"Nica!" I called out, pushing through the frantic crowd to get to her. She turned, and in that moment, relief washed over me, but it was quickly replaced by an intense need to protect her. I reached her and pulled her close, holding her against me.

"Fin!" she gasped, her eyes wide as she clutched my arm.

"Come on!" I said, gripping her hand tightly. I could feel her shaking as we began to run, the panic and fear mirrored on both of our faces.

We bolted through the hallway, my hand firmly in hers, dodging terrified students and the sickening creatures who were once our classmates. I didn't know where we were going, but as long as I had her by my side, I knew I'd find a way to keep her safe.
