Mae bit her lip nervously, glancing around the empty road, her hands trembling as she tried to steady her breath. No cars were passing, and the darkening sky only heightened her worry.

She glanced up and down the road one last time, resigning herself to walk when headlights sliced through the darkness, freezing her in place. The car's sleek black body gleamed as it came to a sudden stop in front of her.

Mae's eyes widened as the tinted window slid down, revealing Park Jimin

Mae's eyes widened as the tinted window slid down, revealing Park Jimin. She felt her breath hitch, her eyes tracing over him. He had on dark sunglasses, his usual hoodie replaced with a fitted white t-shirt that only highlighted his composed, slightly intimidating presence.

His head turned toward her, and she could feel her pulse quicken as his gaze settled on her, unreadable behind his shades.

"Get in," he said, his tone flat and commanding.

Mae hesitated, swallowing hard. "I... the bus..."

"It's stuck," he cut her off, his voice clipped. "Won't be here for at least two hours."

Her eyes fell to her boots, biting her lip nervously. She glanced at the rain drizzling down, drenching the road. His voice, colder this time, broke through her thoughts.

"Get in. I'll take you home."

Mae stammered, her cheeks flushing. "Are... are you sure? I don't want to bother you..."

His gaze shifted forward, the muscle in his jaw tightening. "Get in," he repeated, unyielding.

The subtle force in his tone left no room for argument, and with a shaky sigh, Mae clutched her umbrella and moved to the front passenger side, the rain splattering against her as she opened the door and slipped into the seat.

She closed the door quietly, feeling the warmth of the car contrast with the chill outside. Her hands still trembled slightly, but relief flooded her as she glanced at him, murmuring, "Thank you, really... I didn't know what I was going to do."

He said nothing, merely starting the engine, his gaze fixed on the road ahead as if her presence barely registered.

Mae fumbled with her hands before quickly giving him her address, sinking back into her seat, feeling a mixture of nervousness and gratitude she couldn't quite express.

The ride was silent, only the rhythmic hum of the engine and the soft patter of rain filled the car. Mae gazed out the window, watching raindrops streak down like tiny rivers.

Trees and passing cars blurred by, but her mind was focused on him. Sitting beside him, she felt that the rumors and accusations were mere shadows, untrue words that dissolved in his quiet presence. Her heart fluttered, recalling how he had appeared just when she needed help.
