The mandap was set with beautiful marigold and jasmine garlands hanging elegantly, and the holy fire in the center flickered, casting a warm glow across the ceremonial space.
Shruti sat on one side of the fire, her eyes lowered, a veil covering her nervous face.
Her heart raced with a mixture of fear and uncertainty-she didn't know who her groom was, as his face was obscured by a traditional sehra.
The uncertainty gnawed at her, and she glanced anxiously around.
Meanwhile, Giriraj, Sunita, and Kamini looked on from the side, their faces alight with satisfaction.
Their plan was working, they believed, and this alliance would cement the family's interests as they had schemed.
Sambhav and Brijraj, however, exchanged a knowing look, their faces a mixture of relief and quiet anticipation; they alone knew the true identity of the groom seated beside Shruti.
As the wedding rituals reached their peak, the priest called for the bride and groom to take the seven sacred rounds.
Shruti, hesitant yet bound by the vows, followed the groom, her heart torn between fear and the faint hope that her family had chosen the right man for her.
When the ceremony finally concluded, the groom's sehra was lifted, revealing Bhairav's face.
A collective gasp echoed through the crowd.
Shruti's eyes widened in astonishment, her confusion briefly dissolving into relief as she met his steady, determined gaze.
For a moment, she simply stared, realization dawning that she had been saved from a terrible fate.
Giriraj's face turned dark with anger, Sunita and Kamini stunned, their smiles vanishing as they realized their plan had unraveled.
Chaos erupted as Giriraj stormed toward Brijraj, his voice raised in accusation.
But Bhairav stepped forward, his presence commanding and calm.
Turning to Brijraj, Bhairav bowed respectfully.
Bhairav gently held Shruti's hand and led her to Brijraj. "Brijraj ji, main apna vaada zaroor nibhaunga," he promised.
Brijraj nodded approvingly.
Shruti embraced her chote papa, choti maa, her mother, and her siblings Riya and Jiya, feeling a profound sense of belonging and love.
Bhairav then introduced her to Janak. "He is my uncle my only family and now you are also included in this family."
The heartfelt gesture touched Shruti deeply.
She took Janak's blessings, and he extended his blessings to both her and Bhairav.
After the blessings were exchanged, Bhairav and Shruti prepared to leave, leaving the Maheshwari family behind.
As they were about to depart, Brijraj turned to Sambhav. "Sambhav, jao jaake apna aur bhabhi ka saaman le aao."
Sambhav nodded and left to gather their things.
He then addressed his wife. "Sangeeta, tum bhi jaao, apna aur baccho ka saaman pack kar ke le aao."
Sangeeta nodded and followed Sambhav.
Brijraj's mother, puzzled, asked, "Yeh sab kya ho raha hai, Brij?"
Brijraj's reply was calm but resolute. "Hum sab yeh ghar chhod ke jaa rahe hain."
His mother's shock deepened. "Lekin kyun beta?"
