SYNOPSIS! ❛ marshall just wanted to live the rest of his life in exile, isolated from the world as he slowly rotted away in his home. he felt like he deserved the slowly creeping insanity that was consuming him for what he had done. they praised him, they celebrated him, but all he could hear was the screams and the smell of flesh burning. war was not for the weak but it certainly held no love for the strong either, he was a war hero but he felt like a monster. a slithering creature shifting faces as he was forced to change himself, to disguise the face of horror he wore.
moving to outer banks was the best option, after he was honorably discharged for ptsd and vivid hallucinations, he assumed the ocean and the town would be good for him. and it was but only because of the thorn in his side known as rafe cameron. the twenty-two-year-old had his sights set on marshall the moment he noticed him. of course, he shot down any attempt he made of trying to get in his pants but eventually, he agreed because he missed the companionship of another.
it was supposed to be a one-night stand. but with growing horror, he realized the screams stopped when he had rafe in his bed, the nightmares left him when rafe was holding him, and because of the silence, he kept inviting rafe over. so much so that he failed to realize it was growing into more than sex and he had grown attached. ❜
