A/N: Thank you all soooooooo much for your patience! I have recovered from my hiatus, now that I have some direction on how I want to continue the story. Your interaction and feedback is of course always welcome and valued, so feel free to share any and everything!

Please have an extra-long chapter, featuring Danny, for the wait!

A rush of air left your lips in a heavy, drawn out sigh around the same time the black fog enveloped you entirely, transporting you out of the trial and depositing you in the middle of the same forest clearing you remembered waking up in what now felt like years ago.

Although this was the one you had woken up tied up to a chair in, after being rudely knocked unconscious beforehand by The Wraith, or Philip, as you had better come to know him.

Indeed, you had learned all the killer's human names (at least, those that were actually or mostly human) over the time you spent in this dark and miserable realm: conversing with your killer cohorts, some close friends, some perhaps more than that, most others acquaintances or nuisances, learning the ins and outs of where things were and how things worked, and engaging in innumerable murderous trials.
During that time, it seemed as if countless more killers and survivors had been dragged here after you by The Entity. Somehow, it just kept finding a way to suck in more and more demented pawns to do its bidding, and helpless, unsuspecting victims to entertain it and fuel its insatiable desires.

You never really had to learn any of the names of the survivors. The Entity made sure to feed all its killers that information and more about them, probably as a way to hold even more power over them than they already had.

Though throughout your numerous trials you had been summoned to thus far, not once had you encountered the person that had been at the forefront of your mind back in the real world, the person whose brutal murder you had witnessed first-hand in one of your nightmares, your once-upon-a-bygone-time best friend: Claudette.
You could still remember her name, and most of the things you did together and talked about, but the memory of her appearance and the sound of her voice started to become blurred, distorted. If you were to ever run into her, you were certain everything would come back to you, and your emotions would overtake you and flood your brain, your heart, and finally make you remember how it felt to simply be human, after being numb for so long.

For that reason, you were also certain that The Entity was making absolutely sure that you both never crossed paths again.

When you were first dragged into this world, you had the idea to sneak off to the border separating the killers from the survivors and cross it, hoping to run into her again and, ideally, mingle and live amongst the other survivors, whom you felt you belonged with more anyway.

But the Entity had thought of that too.

Survivors could cross over the border themselves, either intentionally or not, but killers did not have that option. If they tried, the same spikes would shoot up from the ground in front of them, preventing them from going any farther, similarly to the ones in a trial that kept the killers from walking out of the exit gates that some lucky survivors escaped through.

So, you had given up on trying to see your long lost friend, as it just didn't seem to be in the cards for you. But, with the way things were now, she was probably better off not seeing or interacting with you anyway.

You had just been brought back from a rather tedious and long-winded trial, sans Claudette, of course, but you did get to encounter Trevor, Sable, Rebecca, and, regrettably, Leon.
