CHAPTER 1
You wake up to your best friend calling you like usual every morning. The usual screaming for you to get out of bed never gets old, or quieter. After getting ready, you knock on your parents bedroom door. An hour later, you and your family are eating breakfast. You find your parents constantly looking at you. They look concerned and worried. They've been giving you that look ever since you told them you might like girls. They look at your sister and then back at you. "Amaily-" your mother starts to say. They only say your name when it's serious or they're angry. You start to get nervous about your parents feelings. "Liking your own gender is a disgrace to our family and everything me and your mom have word for." Those were the words that came out of your father's mouth. The father who swore you were his everything. The father who calmed you down during your episodes. The father who promised to always protect you. You can't think about anything else. Everything is starting to get blurry. Tears. Your eyes are tearing down. Your sister sits there confused looking at both you and your parents. You grab your bag and rush off to the car. You can hear yourself breathing heavily while feeling dizzy. Your dad enters the car and starts the engine. He looks at you with an angry face. You close your eyes while trying to stop yourself from crying. You eventually doze off. Your dad taps you on the shoulder to wake you. You look around and realize you've arrived at school. In an upset mood, you quickly leave the car and head inside. You can't help but think that this is the worst first day of school.
