Morgan closes her apartment door behind her, breathes a sigh of relief, then sniffs the air. Her boyfriend Gareth is cooking in the kitchen.
"Hey Morgan," he calls.
"Hey. Mmm, that smells good, Gareth!"
"Thanks." Gareth stops what he's doing to wipe his hands off and turn to her. "How was it, being CEO?"
"Weird. I'll tell you later." She kneels to undo her bootlaces. "Man, I'm hungry." She starts to worry, though. What am I going to tell him?
She plops down at the kitchen island, and Gareth sets her food in front of her. "So," he murmurs with a half-smile, "You helping me tomorrow?"
Morgan grins at him. "You've got me all day. Hey, would you still like me if I got Headway? I know it's controversial and stuff..."
"You mean the computer-in-your-head thing? Yeah, as long as you don't let it run you."
She nodded. Noted...
"You're cool as you are." He winked at her.
She gaped in mock indignation. "Cool? That's all?!"
Gareth grinned. "I love you Morgan."
She blushes as he kisses her on the temple.
After dinner, Morgan's phone buzzes. It's someone labeled BFF.
"It's NaTalia. She's probably calling to wish us a happy Thanksgiving." She answers the phone. "Heyyy...you're on speakerphone."
"Hi Morgan! Hi Gareth - oh wait, you there?"
Gareth is clearing plates. "I'm here."
"You neh-vah say hi, man," complains NaTalia.
Morgan smiles. "He's just not that kind of guy," she banters as she gets up to go sit on the couch. Gareth finishes the dishes.
"Alright, just callin' to say happy Thanksgiving y'all, before everyone gets busy," NaTalia announces.
"You too," Gareth and Morgan reply simultaneously.
"You guys are great." The smile in NaTalia's voice is audible.
Gareth joins Morgan on the couch, next to the corner bookcase. The curtains are drawn over the floor-to-ceiling windows.
"Hey...Talia," Morgan begins.
"Yeah."
"I'm thinking of getting Headway to help with the engineering stuff. Any advice?"
