Taehyung sitting quietly on the kitchen stool, his fingers wrapped around a warm mug of hot chocolate that Jimin just made for him. He watches his best friend move around the kitchen, preparing special pasta for dinner.
The kitchen lights cast a soft glow over them, illuminating the tension in the air between small sounds—the simmering pasta, the occasional clink of a spoon against a pot, and the soft hiss of the stove burner.
Their faces, usually relaxed and full of smiles, are unusually serious tonight. Taehyung just confided in Jimin about his worries—how Bogum has started drifting away from him. It isn’t something Jimin is hearing for the first time; he’s noticed it himself.
The affectionate, warm way Bogum used to treat Taehyung has faded, replaced by a strange coldness, a distance that neither of them can quite understand.
Jimin stirs the pasta, his mind running through memories of times when Bogum showed nothing but pure admiration and fondness for Taehyung. He can’t quite put his finger on when it started to change, but he knows it isn’t just in Taehyung’s head.
They share a worried silence, both of them trying to make sense of a shift that feels wrong and unsettling.
Taehyung looks down at his hot chocolate, his voice soft.
“I just don’t understand, Jiminie… I thought things were going well. But now, it’s like he’s pulling away from me.”
Jimin glances over at his friend, his heart heavy with concern.
Setting the pasta spoon down for a moment, Jimin turns to look Taehyung directly in the eyes.
“Tae, I really think you and your husband need to have an honest conversation. This distance between you two—it’s coming from a lack of real communication. You need to get him to open up, figure out what’s really going on in his head,” he says, his gaze steady.
“Remind him you’re his husband, for god’s sake. This silence? It’s not going to solve anything.”
Taehyung lets Jimin’s words sink in, the weight of them pressing against the insecurities that have been building for so long. He’s silent for a moment, collecting his thoughts.
“You know, I’ve tried. I’ve asked him, tried to get him to tell me what’s wrong. But he keeps giving me the same excuse—company pressure, work stress,” taehyung murmurs, setting his mug down on the counter with a quiet thud.
“But I just don’t believe that’s the real reason. It feels like he’s hiding something, keeping me at arm’s length.”
Jimin nods, stirring the pasta with renewed focus.
“Yeah, exactly. We both know work stress isn’t the whole story here.” He looks back at Taehyung, his voice firm but gentle.
“You deserve to know the truth, Tae. You deserve honesty from him, no matter what’s going on. You shouldn’t have to keep wondering if there’s something you did wrong.”
Taehyung nods, a mix of determination and exhaustion etched into his expression.
“You’re right. I can’t just keep going on like this, hoping things will get better on their own. I need to know what’s really going on, even if it’s hard to hear.”
Jimin reaches over, giving Taehyung’s shoulder a reassuring squeeze. “Exactly. This is your life too, and you have every right to ask him for answers. Just… don’t let it drag on. You deserve clarity, Tae. You’re his partner, not some stranger.”
Taehyung takes a deep breath, feeling a sense of resolve settling within him. He doesn’t know what Bogum will say, but he knows one thing, he’s ready to face whatever truth lies behind his husband’s silence.
