Shit.

Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shsit, sHiz, SSIT, sshjsxkd-

;@$?×¥#!

"It's a pretty long nickname but I will take it." Before I can even utter a word, he winks at me, seeming totally satisfied with his discovery as well as the reaction he elicits from me.

I just stand there, immersing myself in tremendous embarrassment, speechless for several long seconds.

"D- did you break in my phone?" I widen my eyes in shock.

No way, what did he do?

How did he find out about the cringey ass nickname Catalina gave him as my contact?

"No, but I sent you a message..." He gives me an amused look, the corner of his mouth lifting lightly. "And the name shows up..."

"I have to admit, I'm flattered." He leans down, his voice dropping to a seductive murmur.

His words send a wave of embarrassment over me, my cheeks heating up furiously at the thought of him knowing what my view about him is like.

"You know what?" I blurt and frown at him.

When I realize that I'm so freaking done and there's nothing I can do about it, I resort to...

Being upset.

"I'm supposed to be mad at you." I huff before turning my gaze to the door.

"Still mad for how you treated me in your office." I roll my eyes and mumble quietly to myself as I start heading out.

Only to be stopped a second later as I feel his hand seizing my wrist.

"Love, don't go." He speaks in his sexy tone behind me, addressing me as "love" which makes my legs feel like jelly.

I turn my heels around to face him.

"You are so cute when you are mad." He chuckles, eyeing me in amusement.

Cute?

Damn, no, Rosalie-

No, brain, no-

Don't freaking blush!

"And when you blush too..." He grins, seeming to have noticed that.

"Stop it, Damon!" I find the strength in me to yell, yanking my wrist away from his grip.

He observes me in anticipation as my brain works hard on what to say next.

"St- stop playing and messing around with me I..." I add with my shaky angry voice, glaring at him.

"I- I'm done with your games!" I exclaim, trying to remain tough as I progressively become emotional.

"I'm..." He inches closer to me, becoming more serious. "Sorry..."

He stops only a foot away from me, making me crane my neck to focus on his eyes, forcing myself not to somehow check out his shirtless body.

"Rosalie..." He suddenly brings his hand closer to my face.

He pushes a strand of hair behind my ear.

The contact of his fingers on my skin makes my breath hitch lightly as I inquisitively stare at him in quietness, wondering what he's going to do.

"I'm sorry for how I treated you this afternoon..." He utters, gazing into my eyes.

"Yeah, yeah I'm heading to him right now. Let me know when you find something." Jolene says before hanging up the call.

As she approaches Damon's room, she catches Hassan standing in front of the door from afar.

"H- Hassan??" She hisses lowly, getting his attention.

"Shhhh!" He presses a finger against his lips, signalling her to remain silent.

...

"I'm sorry for how I treated you this afternoon..." Her boss's voice resonates clearly behind the almost closed door, which means Cole did not properly close it and now there is a tiny gap that contributes to the sound travelling.

Jolene's face rapidly livens up at the words, her mouth twisting into a massive grin. She then gazes at Hassan, who also grins with her a second later, knowing pretty well what each other is thinking.

I stare back at him in silence.

"But what I said back there..." He breathes, his eyes drifting down to my lips.

"It wasn't a lie." Then up at my eyes again.

"I..." He takes a pause and I feel goosebumps spread all over my skin.

"I do feel something for you, Rosalie..." He says, staring into my eyes, sweetly mentioning my name.

❁ ❁ ❁

As soon as that phrase reaches them, everyone immediately gapes their mouth in stupefaction. They glance back and forth at each other with their eyes wide open, too shocked they lose the ability to form words.

"Oh shi-" Samuel can't help but gasp-

But luckily, Jolene is quick enough to slap his mouth with her palm to constrain him, while she herself is also struggling to hold back her reactions.

❁ ❁ ❁

Oh my-

Is- is he confessing his feelings to me?!?

"And I did mean it when I said..." He inches a tad closer, closing the space between us while I only freeze there. "You are special..."

"Damon..." I bite my lower lip unconsciously, staring into his eyes, not responding but experiencing a light feeling of bliss that shoots up and down my body instead.

I don't know why but I never thought I would get to hear him say this, how ironic that I was literally expecting him to reject me.

Sure, a part of me really really yearns for him to feel the same way, but mostly I have always admitted that I'm just doomed and he doesn't care about me one bit.

Since it is all sudden and I'm not prepared to hear words like this, I just stand there, gobsmacked, awaiting some sort of instruction, or guidance from him...

I see him looking at my lips...

Ar- are we going to kiss??

"You're so sweet for me, Rosalie..." He flicks his eyes back up to meet mine, the sudden shift in focus forcing me to give him a very curious regard, wondering why he hasn't leaned in and swept me up my feet already.

Not knowing how to make of his words, I simply exhale in a shuddering way, my heart racing in nervousness and anticipation.

"But we..." He takes a step closer to me, his gaze soft yet heavy with unfathomable emotions and swirling thoughts, which he seems to be struggling to put into words.

I stay silent to listen, but he doesn't say anything. He only reaches out to brush the hair away from my face, there's a faint tug at the corner of his lips as he just takes in my features, seemingly immersed in either the details of my face or something else in his head.

I blush a little at his gesture, letting the intimacy wrap around us for a second or two, before letting my curiosity get the best of me.

"Damon..." I murmur softly, urging him to continue as my eyes start to narrow in growing concern. "W- what is it? But we what?"

I feel something shifts after asking that, as he slowly withdraws his hand to his side, his silver eyes now meeting mine, the smile I caught is now gone.

"We can't be together, Rosalie..." He murmurs finally, his voice soft and small only for me to hear.
