Character ListThis is complicated historical novel, several people have the same exact name. We are going to do what we can to cope. It'll all make sense and be worth it when we get to the romance, true love, betrayal, and kidnappings.
Eleanor of Acquitaine, Queen of England: formerly Queen of France, she was married to King Louis of France, their marriage was annulled after producing two daughters. She then married King Henry of England, with whom she has seven surviving children. Highly intelligent and politically astute. Fifty three years old.
Marie and Alix are Eleanor's daughters from her first marriage. Matilda is her daughter from her marriage to Henry, now already married and in Luxomburg.
Henry, King of England: King of England and some of France. Known womanizer, cunning enough to stay alive and keep the throne but only just, now resentful of his older more intelligent wife. Forty Four years old.
Young Henry (harry): oldest surviving child of Eleanor and Henry. A tournament champion known for his good looks. Married since childhood to Margret of France. Twenty two years old.
Margret of France: wife of Young Henry, daughter of King Louis of France. About nineteen years old.
Richard of England: second surviving son of Eleanor and Henry, a prince of England. Very tall and skilled in knightly pursuits, but fond of music and poetry. Twenty years old.
Geoffrey of England: third surviving son of Eleanor and Henry, cleverest of his brothers and a tournament champion. Nineteen years old.
Eleanor of England: already married to the King of Castille, about16 years old, currently running most of. Castille
Joan of England: youngest sister of the family, and Richard's favorite sibling. Twelve years old.
John of England: youngest child of Eleanor and Henry, uncalculating and generally ill tempered. Henry's favorite child as he's yet to attempt to overthrow him, unlike his elder brothers. Eleven years old.
Geoffrey of York (Geoff): oldest son of King Henry, illegitimate. His mother is unknown. Mostly loyal to his father but on good terms with his brothers, brought up by Eleanor. twenty five years old.
William "Longsword" (Will): illegitmate son of King Henry and a lady named Ida. Born out of wedlock he has no titles but remains on good terms with his brothers. About ten years old.
Ida: mother of William Longsword
Alys of Vixen: daughter of King Louis of France, therefore younger sister of Margret of France. Betrothed to Richard from age eight, and living in England. Seventeen years old.
Philip of France: only son of King Louis of France, highly intelligent and cunning, a born politician. About twelve years old.
Hodierna of St. Albans: wetnurse and governess of Richard, personal friend of Eleanor.mother of Alexander
Alexander Neckam: son of Hodierna, a poet and philosopher. Richard's age exactly born on the same day and raised as his twin. Twenty years old.
William Marshal: common knight who has risen to favor with the Royal family, currently a knight of Young King Herny though orginally he distinguished himself defending Eleanor. Thirty years old.
