As I walked inside , I felt a rush of warm air hit my body , leaving the cold air outside . I quickly fixed my bangs and made my way towards the staircase . As I climbed the stairs little did I know what the future held before me. I quietly walked towards the classroom and pulled the door , scanning the room for Riley. I quickly spotted him sitting in the corner of the room , across from him was a boy with dirty blonde hair that sort of spiked out . I made eye contact with him and could feel myself becoming nervous as I walked over to the table which they were sitting at . I pulled a chair out beside Riley and sat down my eyes darted towards the wall clock . It was 2:00.
" Hows it going loser ." Said Riley as he pulled out his laptop .
"Good , I just came back from the creek."I glanced at the blonde haired boy .
"This is Kasey, he's friends with Marco"
I nodded and smiled
"Hi , I'm adri"
He smiled sheepishly
"I'm Kasey"
We didn't talk much that day, a huge part of me felt nervous around him .
As the days went on I would intentionally pop in Riley's class to see Kasey, he was almost always there . One day we began texting , which turned into a constant thing. As time went on we got closer and I would find myself becoming sad when he wasn't in class that day .
It was a wednesday and my friend had asked me to go to his "friends" volleyball game . My friends and I agreed to go with him.
Once we got to the game my friends and I slipped in the bathroom to hit our vapes . One of my friends looked over at me as she exhaled . "So are you and Kasey talking?" I looked up at her slightly puzzled but I nodded . "Yeah"
She bit her lip. "Well, I heard that he's talking to Grace ." I felt my heart sink down slightly
"Oh yeah?"
"Oh yeah, she's going around telling the cheer team about him . "
I cleared my throat
"What about him?"
She rolled her eyes
"He complimented her eyes and now she's running with it , and I guess they hang out a lot."
That entire conversation had ruined my mood . Shortly after , we began to explore the foreign high school in which the game was taking place . I looked down at a table full of pastries and up at my friend Ezra. "Do you want to share a rice krispie ?"
She smiled and nodded . As we we began to make our way down the staircase I bit into my treat and I paused to look at a giant crucifix that was hanging on the wall . A symbol of my past, I slightly sighed and followed after my friends
Once the game was over, we walked towards the door I could feel the cold air hit my skin and I slightly shivered as we walked towards my friends car , I waved goodbye to some of my friends and hopped in the backseat of Aubrey's mini van . "Turn up the heat!" I shivered and glanced at my phone ignoring Kasey's text. I gently shut my eyes and remained silent during the ride .
