Hello! For the purpose of writing this story, I will be referring to myself as "Ei". Why? Because I thought it would be cool to have an alias, and I like the Raiden Shogun. Moving on though.
I'm writing this note to you, the reader; because I would like to take a moment to explain a few things about the story you are hopefully about to continue to read. This will serve as a disclaimer, trigger warning, and furthermore to touch on a few things I would like to make known before we continue onwards.
This story is very, very loosely based on a community I was a part of as a child, as well as taking inspirations from parts of Alex Hall's famous Creepypasta "Haunted Majoras Mask", specifically in reference to the Moon Children Cult. However, the characters seen in that story will not be present here; I am only referencing positions within, and the functions and practices of the cult, as well as some of its goals and beliefs.
So, I should explain, shouldn't I? Why these two things together? Allow me.
I spent a large chunk of my childhood in what sane people within our society refer to as a cult. While I will not be diving into my own story in detail, I wish to create a story loosely based upon true events as a way to gain something productive from the trauma I have endured. And I mean very loosely. While there will be things that the main character will witness and experience that I as the author have experienced myself, much of it will be fictionalized and dramatized for the purpose of telling a new story.
As for taking inspiration from the Moon Children cult seen in "Haunted Majoras Mask", I have a few reasons. The main one being that the cult I grew up in served a similar purpose, and went by a similar name, which I will not be disclosing for personal reasons. I am a firm believer that there are some things that are better left buried. I am also taking inspiration from this cult to offer further explanation and depth into the cult's motives in this story. Lastly, we should talk about Ben. While he will not be in this story, aside from the inspiration I am deriving; has no ties or relation to Alex Hall's work, however I deeply appreciate Benjamin Lawman's story, and I would like to touch on some of the themes presented in it.
I have seen the effects that brainwashing and indoctrination can have on children firsthand. I have lost friends to a false creed.
So, I want to write this story, not only for my own closure, but for those who didn't make it out with me. Honor their memory, acknowledge their pain.
Now that's out of the way, let's move on to some very important trigger warnings, and disclaimers.
! DISCLAIMER !

While this story will on occasion, depict true events, the vast majority of it is dramatized and fictionalized, and is for entertainment purposes only.
If you are under the age of 16, I ask that you put a pin in this one and come back when you're older. This is not for you, I'm sorry.
The same above applies if you have a weak stomach, or do not wish to encounter dark or disturbing themes such as

And as an extra note, I will not be depicting sexual abuse in this story. While there will be themes of dealing with the trauma inflicted by it, it will not be directly depicted or referenced by name.
If any of these things are things you do not wish to read, then press no further. I am not writing this story as a way to make people who do not wish to see it uncomfortable. It will be uncomfortable, yes. But that is the nature of this story, and my past. So, I wish to impart a fair enough warning to those who might be at all triggered by what will be depicted here. If you think it will be too much for you, then it likely will be. Listen to yourself and put your mental health first. If you do not feel that you are mentally stable enough to handle reading these topics, or feel they will cause you distress, I must urge you not to read.
And with that, I'm all finished yapping your ears off, and if you're willing to follow me; I'd like to tell you a story.
