The scent of incense and polished wood hung heavy in the air.  Hanni sat across from Mr. and Mrs. Kang, her posture stiff but not entirely submissive.

Her parents sat beside her, their faces etched with a mixture of anxiety and forced optimism.

The atmosphere was less like a sale and more like a difficult negotiation.

Mr. Kang, a man whose demeanor was more reserved than imposing, spoke calmly.  "We understand your situation, Mr. and Mrs. Pham.  The offer we've made is significant.  It secures your future and provides a stable path for your daughter."

Hanni's father, a man who usually held himself with quiet dignity, shifted uncomfortably.  "It's...a difficult decision."

Mrs. Kang, her expression kind but firm, added, "Hanni will be well cared for.  She'll have access to resources and opportunities that may not be available to her otherwise.  It's a chance for a fresh start."

Hanni met Mrs. Kang's gaze.  She didn't feel like a child being handed off; she felt more like a bargaining chip in a high-stakes game.

Her parents' desperation was palpable.  She knew they were sacrificing something precious to secure their future.

Mr. Kang presented the contract, its terms clear and concise.  No hidden clauses, no legalistic jargon.

It was a straightforward agreement, outlining the financial support the Kangs would provide and the responsibilities they would assume.

There was no mention of magical potential or special abilities.  The Kangs were offering a new life, oblivious to Hanni's inherent gifts.

Hanni's father, his face pale but resolute, looked at her.  He saw not just his daughter, but the weight of his family's financial struggles.

He nodded, a silent acknowledgment of the difficult choice he had made.

Hanni remained silent, her expression betraying nothing.  She understood the sacrifice her parents were making.

This wasn't a sale; it was a desperate attempt to secure a better future for their family.

She would carry that knowledge with her, a weight on her shoulders, but also a determination to make something of this new life.

With a steady hand, her father signed the contract.  The arrangement was made.

Hanni was not sold as a magical commodity, but entrusted to the Kangs' care, a young woman entering a new chapter of her life, unaware of the extraordinary potential that slumbered within her.
