I fidgeted in my seat anxiously . this was the big moment . I'm supposed to be meeting my father .

After finding his work number on google ( after typing in his name ) I contacted him and he wanted to meet me right away . Apparently Alexander Rowland is a VERY accomplished business man . He owns his own law firm , and other small businesses .

He told me to meet him at the Olive Garden not to far from his job . which surprisingly was a mere fifteen minutes from David's House . Dave dropped me off and wished me good luck , after telling me that if I needed him he was just a call away .

Alexand- I mean my dad , told me to meet him at 1:00 and it was 12:57. I don't know about everyone else , but I absolutely HATE being late . I'd rather be fifteen minutes early than five minutes late .

I sipped my lemonade and fidgeted with my necklace that i had on. every few seconds I glanced towards the door , wondering when he would walk through . I know what he looks like because of google images , but just seeing him in person , not a computer screen is making my palms a bit damp.

I found myself glancing in my front camera trying to fix my appearance , making sure my hair was right and all. I didn't want to look unpresentable to him . ,

I had recently took my braids down so my curly hair was back in full effect ! 😂 I had some strands tucked behind my ear . I had a long tan cardigan that was open on with a white tank top on under it , Some light wash high wasted jeans and some cute minty sandals , with mint accessories . ( Aub's Outfit in MM . I texted David to pass time

Me : slowly dying 😁😫😂 trying not to shit bricks

M I N E 😍😊😘 : Don't worry . Everything will be good bae .

Me : what if he doesn't like me ?

M I N E 😍😊😘 : he asked to see YOU right ? Don't stress . Everything'll go smooth .

I smiled at the fact that he always knows what to say . before I could reply he texted back again

M I NE 😍😊😘: and if it don't i ain't never fought a old nigga before ,but today'll be the day 😂. stop stressing and get off the phone . I love you 😘 .

I laughed a little to myself .

Me : I love you too 😘

It was now 1:02 and I know Alexander ,or at least I hope he'd have the decency , would be walking in any second now . I checked my hair in my phone one more time and when I looked up he was right in front of me .

Holy shit .

My throat got so dry It felt like somebody shoved a whole bag of cotton balls in my mouth .

I stood up , but was still speechless .

" Aubree . "

He said , like a man would if had lost a price possession , and found it .

I have him a wry smile an stuck my had out to shake , not really knowing if giving a hug was appropriate .

He looked at my hand it shook it regretfully .

" Hi "

After our EXTREMELY awkward handshake he sat and motioned for me to take my seat again

" Sit, sit . please . "

I sat .

" So I'm aware you no longer stay with your mother? "

I shook my head in the negative .

" No , this whole time , I thought you just left and like abandoned me , you know , that you left her because of me. And that you didn't want anything to do with me . But in reality she just didn't let you see me . she kept me from me , kept me from having a dad . and that- I just- I can't get over that " I stressed .

The whole time he listened to me intently

" So I've been staying at my best friend's house "

Hey I didn't lie 😂 David is my best friend .

He nodded his head in understanding .

" Bre- can I call you Bree ? "

I nodded my head let him know that it was okay and to keep going

" Bree, I just want you to know that I've ALWAYS wanted you , I've always wanted to be there for you , always . but since your close to graduating and being grown , I figured she can't lie to you forever . and I can't just wait for her to grow up and GIVE me a chance to be in my daughters life , so I'm going to TAKE it "

I looked him in his eyes and he looked really sincere and genuine.

" How come you didn't TAKE it earlier

"Because I wasn't always so ...financially stable , so to speak . and she threatened to make my situation even worse if I even blinked in your direction "

I sat back in my seat and shook my head in disbelief .

" Wow "

Alex continued to talk

" I hope the past doesn't stop us from building a relationship from here on out "

I opened my mouth to agree tht I wanted to go forth and build a strong father - daughter relationship from here on out when my mother walked up and pulled out the extra chair at the table aggressively .

" How come I wasn't invited to the party ? "
