My feet started to grow tired and freeze, my throat started stinging, as if I swallowed a mouth full of razor blades, and my eyelids started fluttering more and more often as I tried to keep my tracks up with the two strangers in front of me. I shuddered when I hugged my arms to keep them warm. I mentally strangled myself for not bringing a jacket with me, or even better, a winter coat. I must admit, I'm surprised it isn't snowing, or at least a layer of ice covering the forest. I left out a shaky breath, as I stumbled a little to the side.

Clockwork noticed, because she stopped her lead, and turned around. Jeff, however, didn't seem to care. He kept walking.

"What's wrong?", the woman asked.

"I'm-", before I could say anything else, I got cut off by her again.

"Stop whining, we're almost here.", she said slightly annoyed, as if I was a toddler on a long car ride, asking nonstop when they will arrive at their destination.

*I only asked -once-*, I thought, frowning.

However, they kept this torture up for about ten more minutes, wich felt like an eternity.

Looking into the distance, I saw a tall building towering up in the sky along with the other trees.

I flinched when Jeff gave me two pats on my back while saying:" come on, we're here."

...I didn't notice he was behind me. He probably checked his surroundings or followed a noise while I was concentrated keeping up my tracks.

Arriving at the door of the building, the man that was with us knocked at the door heavily for two or three times. The door then got opened by a rather tall man, who's face was covered in stitched up scars. He wore a black and white striped scarf, and a black coat. Another thing I noticed about him were his intense green eyes.

"That's her?", he asked.

"Sure is.", Jeff answered while Clockwork sneaked through the little gap that was left between Jeff, the doorframe, and the other man, to get inside. Maybe she was cold?

The other man asked again:" are you sure?"

Jeff now frowned a little.

"The hell is that supposed to mean? Of course she is.", he pouted.

The other man sighed before rubbing the bridge of his nose and spoke:" listen, I'm sorry. There's just- a lot of work..."

"Oh yeah?", Jeff sounded more worried now. He had is arms crossed now too. I think he grew cold too.

"Sure there is. He is not home, so it's up to me. Everything.", the tall man groaned.

"Is there anything to do upstairs?", Jeff asked.

"No, luckily not. I'm thankful for that, to be honest.", the other man replied almost immediately after Jeff spoke.

The man that got me here, took a breath before speaking again:"...well, I'll get her in. She's been freezing for quite a while now-"

*Thank you.*

"-...I don't want her to die just now, haha.", he joked.

*...screw you.*

The other man seemed to enjoy his joke. He nodded slowly and rose his brows:" Haha, yeahh...that would bring us in terrible trouble, haha...", he laughed nervously.

*...why was I so important?*

I got ripped out of my thoughts when Jeff pulled me inside of the building and commanded me to take my shoes off.
